Dispatch Text:

On August 24, 2026, at 10:00 pm, the Klawock Police Department requested assistance from the Alaska State Troopers regarding a barricaded individual actively shooting at officers at a residence. Klawock Police had initially responded to a disturbance involving a juvenile. Upon arrival, officers attempted to speak with other occupants at the residence when the juvenile exited a bedroom with a rifle and fired at one of the officers. The officer avoided injury and evacuated the other individuals from the residence.

Alaska State Troopers arrived to assist as the juvenile continued firing at officers from inside the residence. Officers and Troopers attempted to communicate with the juvenile and provided multiple opportunities for him to surrender peacefully. The juvenile refused and continued making threats against law enforcement. In order to resolve the situation safely, Troopers deployed OC chemical munitions in the residence, after which he surrendered without further incident.

The juvenile was taken into custody and remanded to Craig Jail on the charge of Attempted Murder. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. No injuries were reported.
