On August 28, 2026, at 8:04 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a homicide in the village of Circle. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation and Fairbanks Rural Unit troopers responded. Investigation revealed that 66-year-old Walter V. John of Circle and 55-year-old Raymond Nathaniel of Circle were drinking at John’s residence when John shot Nathaniel in the abdomen with a shotgun. Nathaniel immediately succumbed to the wounds. John was arrested for Murder in the 1st Degree and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center. Next of kin have been notified.
