On October 26, 2026, at 5:55 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a missing child in Sterling. The initial report indicated the child had been missing since approximately 4:30 pm. Troopers and Central Emergency Services initiated a search. Additionally, US Fish and Wildlife responded with a thermal-capable drone to assist. The child was located unharmed on the family’s property at approximately 7:25 pm and was reunited with their parents.
