On November 4, 2026, at approximately 1:38 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported single-vehicle collision on the Steese Expressway. Investigation determined that 21-year-old Xander Martinez of Fairbanks was traveling southbound on the Steese Expressway when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle struck the concrete median barrier on the left side of the roadway before crossing and coming to rest against the guardrail on the right side of the roadway. Xander was not injured in the collision. The vehicle sustained damage and was removed from the roadway by a tow service.
