Dispatch Text:
On November 7, 2026, at approximately 1946 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducting laser speed enforcement on Knik Goose Bay Road observed a black Chevrolet Equinox and a red sedan racing side by side at 92 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. When a Trooper attempted to stop the vehicles, both drivers turned off their headlights and accelerated away. Troopers pursued the Equinox for approximately 2 minutes and 15 seconds over 3.4 miles. The Equinox reached approximately 122 mph on Knik Goose Bay Road and approximately 84 mph after entering a residential neighborhood. The pursuit ended at a residence on West Kertulla Court, where the Trooper used controlled vehicle contact to prevent the Equinox from fleeing again and creating an additional risk to the public. The driver, identified as 16-year-old E.H.P. of Chugiak, and an adult passenger were taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported. E.H.P. was remanded to the Mat-Su Youth Facility on charges of Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer and Reckless Driving. E.H.P. was also cited for speeding, expired registration, driving at night without required lights, and racing. The investigation into the second racing vehicle remains ongoing.
