    On 6/9/2021 at approximately 0332 hours, Alaska State Troopers stopped a silver 2004 Nissan pickup near milepost 78.5 Sterling Highway for multiple traffic violations.  The driver was identified as Clarissa Mae Perez, age 48 of Anchorage.  Investigation revealed she was driving the truck while impaired and under the influence of alcohol.  She was arrested for DUI and remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

    Type: Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/5/21 at about 1340 hours, AST contacted Derek Ludington, age 51 of Nikiski, and arrested him on an arrest warrant for a DVPO violation. Investigation revealed Ludington failed to update his current residential address since he moved about 20 days prior and he's required to register as a sex offender. Ludington was arrested on the warrant and charged with the additional crime of failure to register as a sex offender.  He was booked at Wildwood Pretrial pending arraignment.

    Location: Palmer
    Type: Theft III, Criminal Trespass II

    Dispatch Text:

    On 06/09/21 at approximately 0231 hours, AST found a suspicious vehicle at a Matsu Borough owned property on the Old Glenn Highway, Palmer. Investigation revealed that Jeramie Renner, age 46 of Palmer, entered the property with the intent to remove building materials, despite having been advised the previous night of a trespass from the property. Jereamie was also in possession of a stolen generator. Jeramie was issued criminal citations for Theft 3 and Criminal Trespass 2 and released with an upcoming court date.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/9/21, at 1719 hours, AST stopped a 1978 Black Chevy truck for speeding, 93 mph in a 55 zone.  The driver was contacted and identified as Dylan C. Blaylock, 28 yoa of Palmer.  An investigation resulted in Blaylock being arrested for DUI.  He was transported to Palmer AST where was processed and released on his own recognizance with a future mandatory court appearance.

    Type: Driving Under the Influence

    Dispatch Text:

    On June 8, 2021 at approximately 0602 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received multiple REDDI (report every dangerous driver immediately) reports of a black Ford F-150 which was swerving in its lane of travel; almost causing several head-on collisions, and was driving at varying speeds northbound on the Glenn Highway approaching the fair grounds. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop at an intersection and remained stationary as the intersection light was green. A plain clothed Trooper stopped out with the vehicle; whose driver was slumped over the wheel. The driver, identified as Eric Stevens, age 37 of Copper Center was woken up by this Trooper. Eric did not appear to be suffering from a medical emergency. Uniformed Troopers arrived on scene, and ultimately placed Eric under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. Further investigation revealed two firearms were present inside the vehicle. A search warrant was obtained, and Eric was transported to Mat-Su Regional where his blood was drawn to be tested for the presence of controlled substances. Eric was issued 3 criminal citations for the charges of DUI, and Weapons Misconduct IV x2. Eric was released to a third party on his own recognizance. Investigation is ongoing.

    Dispatch Text:

    On June 8, 2021 at approximately 1412 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a Theft at 907 Solar. AST responded, where investigation revealed while the business was open and had customers inside, an unknown male accessed a trailer in the back of the property. The male was confronted by staff, and ultimately chased away by staff and customers. The male made off with approximately $500 - $1,000 worth of merchandise belonging to 907 Solar. Investigation is ongoing.

    On June 8, 2021 at approximately 1024 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that an Ingersoll-Rand air compressor showed up on the caller’s property sometime over the last several months. Additionally, it was reported that the caller’s truck was vandalized. AST responded, and investigative steps are being taken to determine whether or not the air compressor is stolen. Investigation is ongoing.

    Type: Attempted Murder, Burglary, Assault

    Dispatch Text:

    On June 9, 2021, at approximately 0448 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified that an adult female in Gulkana had called 911, reporting that an adult male had entered her residence and assaulted her with a hatchet. The victim reported she was sleeping in bed and was awoken by the unknown adult male striking her in the head. She was able to fight off the male with the help of her 14-year-old male child. Alaska State Troopers and VPSOs responded immediately to the area and were unable to locate the male. After further investigation by Troopers in Glennallen, 29-year-old Glennallen resident Rodney Stevens was identified as the suspect in the attack. Stevens was located and arrested by Troopers and has been charged with Attempted Murder, Assault 1, and Burglary 1. The investigation is ongoing.

    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    Update 6/9: After a thorough investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation (ABI) Ms. Hanson’s death is believed to have been caused by exposure/hypothermia after a round trip in a small aluminum skiff to Dillingham and back to New Stuyahok. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident. The State Medical Examiner’s findings are consistent with the ABI’s investigation, however, toxicology results are still pending.

    Update 3:35 pm: The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old New Stuyahok resident Rachel Alexandra Hanson. Her remains have been sent to the State Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death. Next of kin have been notified. The investigation surrounding Hanson’s death is ongoing.

    Original: On June 6, 2021, at approximately 1500 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Dillingham were notified by Kanakanak Hospital that a deceased individual had been located inside of a skiff along the shore in New Stuyahok. Dillingham-based Troopers responded to the scene and secured it. Investigators and crime scene technicians from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation in Anchorage have responded to New Stuyahok to assist with the investigation.

    Type: Commercial Shrimp Buoy Markings and No Biodegradable Escape Mechanism

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/9/2021 at approximately 1300 hours, Prince of Wales AWT contacted the permit holder and operator of the FV William after the vessel's commercial shrimp gear had been inspected. The inspection resulted in Jim Farmer (38 y/o) of Craig being issued citations. He was charged with one count of violating the Commercial Shrimp Pot Buoy Requirements and one count of No Biodegradable Escapement Mechanism. He has a mandatory appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court.

    On 6-9-21, at approximately 0900 hours, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Anchorage contacted Bruce R. Gaultney, age 59 of Michigan.  Gaultney was issued an Alaska Uniform Citation for failure to submit  a drawing hunt report reference mountain goat hunting in GMU 6A.
