On 10/26/2026, at approximately 2037 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Virginia Richards, 32, of Soldotna, who was observed walking on the shoulder of Kalifornsky Beach Road near Arena Avenue in Soldotna. Richards was contacted due to having an outstanding arrest warrant for violating her conditions of release. Upon contact, Richards attempted to punch a Trooper and actively resisted arrest. She was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Detention Facility on the outstanding warrant, as well as new charges of Assault in the Fourth Degree (against a peace officer), Resisting Arrest, and Violating Conditions of Release.

On October 26, 2026, at 5:55 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a missing child in Sterling. The initial report indicated the child had been missing since approximately 4:30 pm. Troopers and Central Emergency Services initiated a search. Additionally, US Fish and Wildlife responded with a thermal-capable drone to assist. The child was located unharmed on the family’s property at approximately 7:25 pm and was reunited with their parents.

On October 27, 2026, Troopers and VPSOs responded to the Caribou Bar and Grill for a reported weapons offense after an individual brandished a handgun. Following an investigation, Charles Williams, age 35, was arrested for Assault in the 3rd degree. Williams was transported to the Glennallen Trooper Post to await arraignment.

On October 27, 2026, Troopers responded to the Caribou Bar and Grill for a report that Michael Cespedes, age 34, was violating his conditions of release. Following an investigation, probable cause was established that Cespedes had violated his conditions by consuming alcohol. Charges are being forwarded to the District Attorney.

On 10/26/2026 at approximately 1254 hours, Alaska State Troopers investigated a report of suspected sexual abuse involving a juvenile female and an adult male resident in the Mat-Su area. Following an investigation, Troopers determined that Pedro Slats, age 30, of Wasilla, had engaged in sexual contact with the juvenile. Slats was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree and was held without bail.

On 10/27/26 at approximately 0316 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a Red GMC Sierra for equipment violations on the Parks Hwy in Houston. Investigation revealed two passengers in the vehicle had outstanding warrants out for their arrest. Daniel Borchardt age 36, of Houston had a warrant for his arrest for MICS 5 and a bail of $200. Amanda Burke age 31 had a warrant for her arrest for MICS 5 and a bail of $50. Both were arrested, transported and remanded to MSPT in Palmer.

On 10/27/26 at approximately 1830 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a multicolored Honda SUV for equipment violations on Cherri Lake Dr in Houston. Investigation revealed the driver Joshua Vialpando age 51, of Houston had two outstanding warrants out for his arrest for failure to remand with time to serve. One was for Theft 3 and the other MICS 5. He was arrested, transported and remanded to MSPT where his bail was set at no bail.

On 10/27/26 at approximately 2130 hours, AST located Malachi Cohen age 28, of Wasilla walking down the road in Houston near King Arthur. Cohen was wanted on an outstanding warrant out for his arrest for failure to comply with conditions of probation for burglary. Cohen was arrested, transported and remanded to MSPT in Palmer where his bail was set at $1,500.

On 10/25/26 at approximately 2000 hours, AST responded to a residence on Schrock Rd to attempt to locate Nicholas Latocha age 35, of Wasilla on an outstanding warrant out for his arrest. The warrant was for 3 counts of MICS4 and 3 counts of VCOR. He was located, arrested and remanded to MSPT in Palmer where his bail was set at $1,500.

Investigation revealed the passenger Audrey Pease age 40 of Wasilla had an outstanding warrant out for her arrest for MICS 5. She was arrested, transported and remanded to MSPT in Palmer where her bail was set at $1,500.

On 10/27/2026, at approximately 0404 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of the Parks Hwy and King Arthur Drive in Houston. The passenger was identified as Austin Hvamstad, age 29, of Houston. Investigation revealed that Austin had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Austin was arrested on those warrants. Austin was transported to Matsu Pretrial where he was remanded and held on $2,500 bail.

On October 27, 2026, Alaska State Troopers received information that Robert Cleveland, age 22, of Deering, had assaulted multiple people and damaged property in the village of Deering. Alaska State Troopers from Nome responded and arrested Cleveland. As a result of the incident, in an abundance of caution, the school issued a shelter in place order. The investigation is ongoing.

On 10/26/26 at 1707 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Tok received a report of a DV Disturbance in Tanacross. Investigation revealed Gary John to have assaulted a household member. Gary was arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center for Assault 4 DV.

On 10/26/2026 at approximately 1938 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received the report of a domestic violence assault after the fact. The caller reported that his partner assaulted him at about 0000-0100 hours earlier in the day. The suspect, Billie Foltz, (41yoa) of Fairbanks, was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center for DV Assault charges and Assault in the Presence of a child x2.

On October 27, 2026, at approximately 1709 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on James Carpentino, (48yoa) of North Pole, for a moving violation The investigation revealed that Carpentino was operating a vehicle while his driver’s license was actively suspended for a criminal offense. Carpentino also had a prior conviction for the same offense within the last 10 years. He was arrested for Driving While License Canceled, Suspended, or Revoked (AS 28.15.291), a Class A misdemeanor, and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

On 10/27/2026 at approximately 2005 hours, a traffic stop was conducted on Geist Road for a vehicle displaying no illuminated rear license plate. Contact was made with the driver, Jeremyah Murphy (18), and the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Murphy voluntarily provided several marijuana dispensary containers, one of which contained a partially smoked marijuana blunt. Murphy was issued a summons for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Sixth Degree and was released from the scene.

On October 27, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported hit-and-run collision at the Circle K gas station located at Geist Road and Fairbanks Street. Witnesses reported that a white Toyota Tacoma backed into a parked vehicle and then left the scene without providing information to the vehicle owner. Surveillance footage obtained from the business corroborated the witness account and showed the suspect vehicle striking the parked vehicle before departing. The Investigation is ongoing.
