    Advisory Text:

    The Seward Highway is closed in both directions near mile 64 (just north of Hope cutoff) due to a vehicle collision. The closure is expected to last for multiple hours. Please avoid the area, and check 511.alaska.gov for updates.

    Type: CMV DUI & DUI

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11/26/2025 at 2228 hours the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop near Mile 224 Parks Highway, Cantwell on a semi-truck displaying strings of small multi-colored lights which were not of authorized colors for a CMV.  Investigation determined the driver, Joseph George, age 41 from Fairbanks was driving a CMV while under the influence.  George was arrested for DUI-CMV and DUI.  Following a breath sample, he was released on his own recognizance to a sober person.  George was also put out of service for 24 hours.  The vehicle was released to another CMV driver of his company.

    Dispatch Text:

    On November 26, 2025, the Alaska State Troopers were notified by the Alaska Department of Corrections that 45-year-old Kenai resident Aaron Merritt had died at an Anchorage area hospital. Merritt was found unresponsive in his Anchorage Correctional Center cell on November 21, 2025, at 1:42 pm and was taken to an Anchorage area hospital. A preliminary investigation determined that Merritt's injuries were self-inflicted. His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy, and his next of kin have been notified. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed case responsibility.
