On January 8, 2026, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of sexual abuse of a minor in the Nikiski area. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation Soldotna Major Crimes Unit began an investigation and on February 20, 2026, 34-year-old Brandon Hoelscher, of Hooper Bay, was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial on charges of DV Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender/Child Kidnapper in the Second Degree.

On February 22, 2026, at approximately 23:02 hours, AST responded to a residence in Wasilla for a report of a domestic disturbance. The investigation determined that Magdelyn Sanford, 32 yo from Wasilla, assaulted a family member, causing visible injury to the victim’s face. Sanford was arrested without incident for Assault in the Fourth Degree (DV) and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial, where she was held without bail.

On 02/22/2026 at approximately 2052 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a business in Wasilla reference an intoxicated female inside the bar while a child was in her vehicle. Upon arrival, Troopers contacted Sanci-Rae Moniz (age 22 of Wasilla). Investigation revealed Sanci-Rae had left the child unsupervised in her vehicle while it was running and unlocked outside the bar. On 02/22/2026 at approximately 1810 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in Wasilla reference a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed Milica Petrusic (age 42 of Wasilla) had assaulted a family member. On February 22nd, 2026, at approximately 1916 hours AST responded to a residence in Wasilla for a report of domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed that Valerie Powell (age 24) physically assaulted a partner, as well as with a dangerous instrument.
