UPDATE 10/3 8:00 am: A preliminary investigation revealed that a Subaru station wagon driven by 52-year-old Wasilla resident Saranne Twitchell crossed into oncoming traffic and struck three vehicles. Twitchell was declared deceased enroute to the hospital, and a 16-year-old male driver, and sole occupant, of the second vehicle that Twitchell struck was declared deceased on scene. No other persons were transported by ambulance for medical care. Next of kin have been notified for both deceased, and their bodies have been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
ORIGINAL: On October 2, 2025, at approximately 5:04 PM, MATCOM AST 911 Dispatch received a report of a motor vehicle collision at mile 62 of the Parks Highway. The accident caused the highway to be closed for about 4.5 hours. Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene, and an investigation revealed that four vehicles were involved in the collision. Tragically, the at-fault driver and another driver from one of the vehicles lost their lives in the incident. Next of kin have been notified for both drivers.

On 10/02/2025 at approximately 2311 hours, AST attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a four wheeler driving on the roadway. The driver did not yield to the lights and siren and fled ultimately ending in a crash. Investigation revealed that the driver, Robert Casello age 39, failed to yield to a peace officer. Investigation also revealed that Robert had two active warrants for his arrest. Robert was transported to Mat-Su regional for medical clearance and then transported to Mat-Su Pre-trial where he was held without bail for Felony elude. He was also remanded for both warrants.

Location: Mountain VillageType: Importation of AlcoholDispatch Text:
On October 3rd, 2025, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that 2 individuals travelling through Bethel were going to import alcohol into Mountain Village, a local option community. Troopers contacted both suspects in Bethel at an air terminal destined for Mountain Village.
Investigation led to the seizure of 4 bottles of alcohol from Corrie Kokrine, 29, of Mountain Village and 8 bottles of alcohol from Martha Sheppard, 52, of Mountain Village. Both were charged with Importation of Alcohol.

On 10/03/2025 at 1941 hours Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation on the Parks Highway in Cantwell. Investigation determined the driver, Kelly Painter, age 61 from Cantwell was required to provide a DNA sample as a post-conviction requirement. Painter was requested to provide a DNA sample and was issued a criminal summons for Violate Order to Provide DNA as required.

On October third, 2025, at approximately 2128 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driving erratically, travelling eastbound on Chena Hot Springs Rd. Following an investigation, the driver, Kenenne Alderman (59F) of Fairbanks, was found to be impaired by alcohol. Kenenne was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without further issue for Driving Under the Influence.
