    On 12/15/2025 at approximately 0755 hours, AST responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch in the parking lot of Snowshoe Elementary. Upon arrival, Troopers noticed signs of impairment and an open container of alcohol. The driver was identified as Shane Green age 35 of Wasilla. Shane refused SFSTs and was arrested for DUI. Shane provided a breath sample of 0.319 and was remanded at MSPT.

    On Dec. 14, 2025, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report around 8:52 p.m. of an abandoned vehicle on Church Road in Wasilla that was on fire. While on scene, dispatch received a call that 35-year-old David Griffin of Wasilla had gone into a nearby store and was talking about setting his car on fire. Troopers responded to the store and contacted Griffin, who refused to comply with commands and said he had a weapon. Troopers used OC spray to detain Griffin and one trooper received minor injuries during the apprehension. Multiple knives were found on Griffin. He was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on charges of arson, and third- and fourth-degree assault.

    UPDATE, 3:35 p.m. Dec. 15, 2025: The preliminary investigation indicates the deceased male located in the residence is Ryan McDonough. The remains were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and positive identification. The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is ongoing.

    UPDATE, 2 p.m. Dec. 14, 2025: The remains of an adult male were recovered from the scene and will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification. The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is ongoing.

    ORIGINAL: On Dec. 13, 2025, Alaska State Troopers received a report around 6:50 p.m. of a residential fire on West Discovery Loop in Wasilla. Troopers responded along with local fire and EMS. The structure was fully engulfed with flames upon arrival. Ryan McDonough, 46, lived at the residence and is unaccounted for. Other residents of the home are safe. The State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.

    On 12/15/25 at approximately 2247 hours, AST received a report of a vehicular assault in Wasilla. It was reported that the suspect had rammed their vehicle into a family member's vehicle multiple times while they were inside with a child. The suspect, Shelby Langevin age 26 of Wasilla, was arrested and charged with Assault 3 DV, Assault in the Presence of a Child DV, and Criminal Mischief 3 DV.

    On 12/12/2025 at approximately 2300hrs, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a burglary at a business in Fort Yukon. Witnesses and video surveillance show William Wallis as the suspect. William was charged with burglary and remanded to FCC.

AK Wildlife Troopers

    On Dec. 10, 2025, Steven Gile, 36, pleaded guilty to taking an elk in a closed area and unlawful possession and transportation of wildlife. The original charges stem from a June Alaska Wildlife Troopers investigation that revealed Gile, along with 62-year-old David Powell and 41-year-old Aaron Powell, had unlawfully taken an elk from a closed hunting area on Zarembo Island. Gile was placed on probation for five years and ordered to pay $5,000 in fines, $800 in restitution, and had his hunting license suspended for two years. David Powell and Aaron Powell were both cited for unlawful possession and transportation of an elk. They both pleaded guilty in November and were ordered to pay $3,500 in fines. David Powell was placed on probation for four years and his hunting license was suspended for one year. Aaron Powell was placed on probation for three years and his hunting license was suspended for three years.
