    On 02/26/2026 at approximately 2230 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a single-vehicle injury crash involving a moose in Wasilla.  The occupants were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, and a charity was called to salvage the moose.

    On Feb. 24, 2026, the Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team conducted an investigation that led to the seizure of roughly 1 pound of methamphetamine. On Feb. 25, WAANT investigators, along with members of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Bethel-based Alaska Bureau of Investigation, and Bethel Police Department, arrested 25-year-old Krista Waskey on charges of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. An additional suspect fled the scene in Bethel. Investigators searched an involved residence and seized additional narcotics representing more than 4,500 user doses and worth more than $550,000. Another $20,000 in cash was also located. The investigation is ongoing.

    UPDATE, 2/27: On Feb. 26, 2026, the Alaska Dive Search Rescue and Recovery Team responded to Sand Point area to search for a juvenile who went missing in the water. During the response, the team located and recovered human remains.

    ORIGINAL: On Feb. 24, 2026, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a missing juvenile in the water near Popof Island in the Sand Point area on February 23. The missing teenager is still unaccounted for despite efforts of local police and community members to locate and recover him. The Alaska State Troopers have authorized the Alaska Dive Search Rescue and Recovery team to respond to assist local police and search crews in the efforts.

    On 02/27/2026 at approximately 0120 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a routine traffic stop.

    Upon contact with the driver, identified as Larry Lewis, investigation determined he was impaired and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle. Lewis was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. During the investigation, Lewis provided a false name to troopers. It was also discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in an unrelated case.

    Larry was arrested and charged with the crimes of DUI, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, False Info or Report, and Violating Conditions of Release.

    On 02/26/2026 at 2029 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a semi-truck which struck a moose at Mile 313 Parks Highway, about 10 miles north of Nenana.  The semi-truck received disabling damage.  The moose was salvaged by a charity.  Drivers are reminded that due to the large amount of recent snow moose are having a difficult time moving around and getting out of the road.  Drivers are requested to slow down and exercise caution to avoid collisions with wildlife and other things.

    On 02/27/2026 at 1508 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to Mile 254 Parks Highway (4 miles north of Healy) for a 2 vehicle MVC involving a CMV tanker truck.  Investigation determined Alfred Barrie, age 56 from North Pole drove his vehicle in a manner which resulted in the semi-truck hitting him.  Both vehicles received disabling damage.  Barrie was issued a citation for Failure to Exercise Due Care to Avoid a Collision.  The driver of the semi-truck, Ryan Matheny, age 39 of North Pole received a citation for a log violation.  There were no injuries and no release of Hazmat from the tanker truck.

    On 02/27/2026, troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision at University Avenue and Cameron Street after one vehicle lost control in snowy conditions. The driver of the silver Ford F-150, Logan Leitzke, displayed signs of impairment including slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes, and poor performance on standardized field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test indicated the presence of alcohol, and a subsequent DataMaster test showed a breath alcohol concentration of .196. He was remanded to FCC.

    Type: Possession and Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material

    Dispatch Text:

    The Alaska Bureau of Investigation Technical Crime Unit/Task Force Dawnbreaker received a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTip originating from an online social media platform alleged a user uploaded Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on the platform.  An investigation revealed that the user was Adam Keizur (age 26 of Wasilla) who is also identified as a health care worker who works with the disabled in a home setting.

    In February 2026, Wasilla Police Department (WPD) received a report of a subject stalking a minor female near the Wasilla Wal-Mart.  WPD located the subject and identified him as Keizur.  WPD arrested Keizur on Enticement of a Minor Charge and remanded him to Mat-Su Pretrial without incident.

    On February 26, 2026, a Palmer Grand Jury indicted Keizur on sixteen charges to include: fifteen (15)  counts of Possession of CSAM, and one count of Distribution of CSAM.  Keizur is continued to be remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial on these new charges as well as Enticement of a Minor.
