On 8/21/2025 AST responded to a residence on Loc Lohmand Dr in Big Lake for an assault. The investigation showed that Gabriel Patterson age 19 of Big Lake assaulted a special needs family member leaving visible injuries on them. Gabriel was remanded to Matsu pretrial for assault in the fourth degree and given no bail.

On Aug. 20, 2025, Alaska State Troopers’ Mat-Su Narcotics Enforcement Team and Southcentral SWAT executed a search warrant on a Wasilla residence suspected to be involved in drug trafficking. Law enforcement seized 23 firearms, including some that had been stolen, an estimated $14,000 in stolen silver coins, and distribution amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine. Jerid Hesseling, 42, and Mandi Hesseling, 44, were arrested at the residence on multiple charges, including second- and third-degree misconduct involving controlled substances and misconduct involving weapons. Investigators determined the location of a third involved person, 39-year-old Sean Van Doren. SWAT, investigators and B-Detachment patrol responded and took Van Doren into custody on charges of second- and third-degree misconduct involving controlled substances and misconduct involving weapons. Law enforcement recovered two additional handguns and distribution amounts of methamphetamine, fentanyl and heroin during a search of Van Doren’s vehicle.

On 8/21/25 at approximately 0630 hours, AST received a report of a possible deceased person. Investigation showed that Timothy Hanchett, 37, of Wasilla, was found dead due to natural causes. No foul play is suspected, and he was collected by Legacy Funeral Services.

On 20 August 2025, at approximately 2333 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Hess Ave in Fairbanks. Following an investigation, the driver, Austin Newville (26M), was found to be impaired by alcohol. Austin was arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without further incident.

On 8/21/2025 at 1126 hours, the Fairbanks Emergency Communications Center (FECC) called Fairbanks Alaska State Troopers (AST) dispatch reporting 47-year-old Lisa Frank was found deceased at a residence on Rosie Creek Road. The State Medical Examiner’s Office was consulted in conjunction with an on-scene investigation, which determined Frank died due to natural causes. Next of kin have been notified.
