On 1/28/26 at about 1824 hours, Troopers came upon a vehicle which had gone off the road and rolled. The driver was identified as Richard Knagin, 35 of Ninilchik, who had been ejected from the vehicle. Knagin was found to have a suspended driver’s license and was given a citation. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Nathan Vandecoevering, 52 of Anchor Point, who initially gave Troopers a false name. On 01/28/2026 at approximately 2040 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded with fire and EMS units to a medical assist with CPR in progress. Despite life-saving measures, Calvin Wiggins, age 30 of Palmer, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The state medical examiner responded, and the next of kin was notified.

On 01/28/2026 at approximately 2241 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call for a disturbance at a location in Wasilla
Investigation revealed that Cory Rudd, 42 YOA, of Wasilla, strangled a friend of his ex-girlfriend. Cory Rudd was arrested for Assault in the second degree and transported to Mat-Su pretrial pending arraignment.

On 01/29/2026 at approximately 1527 hours, AST received a report of a Domestic Violence Protective Order violation. The following investigation revealed that Kevin Ricker, 64 YOA, had violated a DVPO. Kevin was arrested and transported to MSPT, where he was held without bail.

On 1/29/2026, at approximately 1800 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to residence on Wright Way in Sutton for a follow up investigation. AST contacted Sandra Worster, age 35 of Sutton and Cory Hoel, age 34 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Sandra and Cory had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Sandra’s arrest warrant was for the original charge of VCOR. Cory’s arrest warrant was for failure to comply with conditions of probation. Sandra and Cory were arrested and transported to Matsu Pretrial where they were remanded. Sanda was held on a $250 bail and Cory was held on a $10,000 bail.

On 01/28/2026 at approximately 15:27, Alaska State Trooper Dispatch received a call for a Motor Vehicle Collision involving two motor vehicles in the North Pole area. Troopers responded to the scene. Investigations showed a vehicle ran a stop sign which caused the Collison. No injuries were reported.

On Thursday, January 29, 2026 at approximately 5:50AM AST was notified of a vehicle that had driven off the roadway and was stuck in a snowbank. After initial contact, DUI was suspected and confirmed through SFSTs and further chemical testing.
