    On 1/10/25 at approximately 2300 hours, an Alaska State Trooper in Wasilla was driving on Knik Goose Bay Road near Vine Road when an oncoming vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed crossed into their lane and nearly hit them.  The trooper had to take significant evasive action to avoid a collision.  The other driver then went into the ditch, damaging his vehicle.  Investigation revealed the driver, 38-year-old Gregory Polushkin, was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.  He was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI and two counts of Assault in the Third Degree against a Peace Officer.  He was remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was held without bail.

    On 01/10/2025 at approximately 2239 hours, AST performed a routine traffic stop on a white 2006 Ford F550 on S Alix Dr. and W Demar Ave that had been seen leaving a disturbance at Settlers Bay Lodge. 44-year-old Jeremy Weis of Wasilla was found to be driving under the influence. Jeremy was then arrested for DUI and remanded to Mat-Su pretrial where he was later released on his own recognizance.

    On 1.11.25, at approximately 1000 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of unknown individual(s) entering properties with flashlights off Talkeetna Spur in Talkeetna in the early morning hours. The person(s) are unknown. AST is encouraging the citizens of Talkeetna to report any suspicious activity to MATCOM at 907-352-5401.

    On January 10, 2025, at approximately 2346 hours, AST responded to a disturbance on Farmers Loop in Fairbanks. On scene, juveniles who were involved in a collision were contacted. The investigation resulted in two occupants being arrested. One occupant was arrested for Theft in the Second Degree x 2. Another occupant was arrested for Tampering with Physical Evidence and Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Fifth Degree. Both juveniles were transported to FYF for processing.

    On Saturday, January 11th, 2024, at about 0900 hours, Troopers were in the area of College Rd near the Fairgrounds when they located Martin  Szmyd, who had an active arrest warrant and was absconding from probation. During the arrest, Troopers located drug paraphernalia and a small amount of Meth on his person. Martin was transported to FCC on the warrant and charged with MICS 5 and a Probation Violation.

    On January 10th, 2025, at about 1224 hours, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for the driver, Larry Miller Jr, having a revoked ADL and being on active conditions of release by the Fairbanks court not to drive a motor vehicle. Upon contact and further investigation, Larry was arrested for DWLR and VCOR and transported to FCC without incident.

    On 1/11/2025, George Woods, age 51 of Fairbanks, was contacted after committing a traffic violation. An investigation revealed George was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and with a suspended driver's license. George was arrested and remanded to FCC.
