    On March 4th, 2026, AST responded to Wasilla for a domestic violence protective order violation. AST arrested Cory Thingstad for violating his order. Thingstad was booked into Matsu Pretrial.

    On 3/4/26 at approximately 0021 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle swerving in its lane on Vine Rd in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that the driver, Eric Spears age 39 of Wasilla, was driving while under the influence of alcohol. A handgun was located underneath the driver's seat of the vehicle. Eric was arrested and transported to MSPT for DUI and MIW 4.

    On 3/4/26, at approximately 0337 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a call reporting an assault at a residence in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Ian Demientieff, age 20 of Wasilla, had committed one count of assault in the second degree, one count of assault in the third degree, one count of assault in the fourth degree, and one count of criminal mischief in the fifth degree. Ian was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial without incident.

    Dispatch Text:

    On March 3, 2026, at 2:30 pm, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a death in Kwethluk. AST arrived a short time later and contacted the Tribal Police Officer who was already on scene with the health aide at a residence in Kwethluk. Investigation revealed that Seraphim Alfred, age 32, was inside her residence with severe frost bite injuries. Seraphim was pronounced deceased by the health aide on scene. The State Medical Examiner was contacted and request that Seraphim be transported to the SMEO for an autopsy. Next of kin have been notified. The investigation is continuing.

    On 03/04/2026 at 1412 hours the Alaska State Troopers and Inspectors from Commercial Vehicle Compliance conducted a traffic stop on Peger Road for an equipment violation.  Investigation determined Keith Jacques, age 44 from Fairbanks was operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle without a Commercial License.  Jacques was issued a summons for Operating a CMV without a CDL and he was placed out of service.

    On 03/04/2026 the Alaska State Troopers and Inspectors from Commercial Vehicle Compliance conducted a targeted Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement period in Fairbanks.  The enforcement period resulted in 6 driver contacts, 5 CMV inspections completed, 5 citations issued including a misdemeanor summons.  A total of 24 violations were identified, 8 of which were out of service violations spread out over 4 of the drivers.  The purpose of this enforcement activity was to improve the safety of the roads in the Fairbanks area.

    UPDATE 3/12: The State Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the human remains recovered from the fire as 23-year-old Trevor Savetilik. His next-of-kin were notified. The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is ongoing.

    UPDATE, 3/5/26: Troopers and a Deputy Fire Marshal responded to Koyuk to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. Trevor Savetilik, 23, remains unaccounted for. Investigators recovered human remains from the scene and will transport them to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification. The investigation is ongoing, but there were no immediate signs of foul play.

    ORIGINAL: On March 4, 2026, Alaska State Troopers received a report around 6:05 a.m. of a residential fire in Koyuk. Three residents got out of the home and did not report any injuries, but one adult male remains unaccounted for. Troopers and a Deputy Fire Marshal are responding to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire.
