UPDATE 09/27: Further follow up revealed the backhoe was not stolen. The backhoe was leased through NC Machinery, and they are currently in possession of it. Asset management retrieved the backhoe and returned it to NC Machinery.
ORIGINAL: On 09/22/2025 at approximately 0949 hours Troopers took the report of a stolen Caterpillar 420E backhoe from a residence near mile marker 82 of the Richardson Highway. The theft occurred between the summer of 2024 and 09/22/2025. This case is active.

On September 27, 2025, at 1:27 AM, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a single-vehicle ATV collision in the Village of Brevig Mission. The two occupants of the ATV were both deceased. They were identified as 29-year-old Tommy Iyapana and 25-year-old Maude Adam, both of Brevig Mission. AST is responding by boat to Brevig Mission for further investigation. The bodies will be sent to the SME for an autopsy. Next of kin has been notified.

On 09/26/2025 at 1842 hours Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop at Mile 205 Parks Highway for speeding. One of the passengers were identified as Timothy Berry, age 32 from Ketchikan. Investigation determined Timothy was violating his conditions of release for a felony case. Timothy was arrested and remanded to FCC where he was held on a $1000 bail for VCOR.

On 9/27/2025, Troopers stopped Jadon D’Hondt for a headlight violation and observed signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes and evasive answers. Field sobriety tests showed multiple clues of impairment, and a PBT result was .105 BrAC. A search incident to arrest revealed two pistols in the vehicle. Jadon provided a DataMaster result of .089 BrAC and was remanded to FCC for DUI and two counts of MIW4.

Kaleb D. Corbet was arrested this morning after leading Troopers on a vehicle pursuit that ended safely due to the effective actions of an Alaska State Trooper on patrol.
At approximately 0845 hours, Troopers attempted to contact the driver of a vehicle believed to be stolen. Corbet failed to stop and fled at high speed through a residential area. The pursuit ended when the vehicle became disabled in a private yard. Corbet was arrested for Failing to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer, Vehicle Theft in the First Degree, and Violation of Conditions of Release.
The stolen vehicle was recovered at the scene and has been returned to its rightful owner.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This occurred in the area of West Athena Drive. It was as an older white male (50-60s) with a gray mustache and a black ballcap. On 09/27/2025 at 1745, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a vehicle collision at 2395 Old Chena Ridge Rd. The complainant stated the driver pinned a man into the dumpster with a black Chevrolet Silverado. After arrival on scene, Chena Goldstream EMS provided aid to victim who suffered injuries to his lower body and transported him to FMH. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. Update: On August 11, 2025, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in Wasilla for CPR in progress on a child. The child was transported to an area hospital and eventually succumbed to the injuries. An autopsy ruled the death a homicide.
On September 25, 2025, a Palmer Grand Jury returned a true bill on Jackie Caswell, of Wasilla, multiple counts related to the death, including second-degree murder, criminally negligent homicide and endangering the welfare of a child. They returned a true bill on Sergie Krukoff for Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. Arrest warrants were issued on September 26, 2025, and both went into hiding.
On September 27, 2025, AST Patrol units located Jackie Caswell and Sergie Krukoff at a residence in Wasilla. They were arrested and taken to Mat Su Pretrial for their warrants. The investigation is ongoing.
Update: Alaska State Troopers arrested both Caswell and Krukoff. AST would like to thank everyone who assisted in locating them.
