On 1.3.25 at approximately 1145 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on Runyon Cir in Palmer and contacted Trisha Apling, age 29 of Wasilla. An investigation revealed that Apling had an outstanding warrant for her arrest on multiple charges. On 1.3.25 at approximately 1415 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on Porcupine Ave in Wasilla and contacted Whitney Woodworth, age 32 of Palmer. An investigation revealed that Woodworth had an outstanding warrant for her arrest on the original charge of Assault IV. Woodworth was arrested for her warrant and transported to MSPT for remand.

On January 3rd, 2025 at approximately 1655 hours, Troopers responded to a Houston residence with a report of a 911 hangup. Investigation revealed Daniel Derr, 45 years old of Houston had placed a family member of imminent physical injury. Additionally, he was on conditions of release from a prior case and was not to be at the residence or in contact with the victim. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on three counts of violating his conditions of release and fourth-degree assault.

On 01/02/2025 at approximately 1315 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a REDDI report at the Willow Elementary School for a man slumped over in a side-by-side. Troopers located Charles Vanornum, a 63 year-old male, driving his side-by-side southbound in the northbound lanes of the Parks Highway. After a DUI investigation, Charles was arrested for DUI and issued a summons.

On 1/2/2025 at approximately 1712 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received several REDDI reports of a possible drunk driver driving in the Wasilla Carrs’ parking lot. After an investigation, it was determined Willow Schlenker, a 28-year-old female, was too intoxicated to be driving while under the influence of alcohol. Willow was arrested for DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Willow was remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial and held on $500 bail.

On 01/02/2025, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a welfare check at the intersection of Peede Road and Persinger Drive. Troopers contacted Clinton Sundgren of North Pole. Investigation revealed that Sundgren had two warrants for his arrest and was violating conditions of release. Sundgren was remanded into custody at Fairbanks Correctional Facility.

On 01/03/2025 at 1850 hours the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop near Mile 249 Parks Highway in Healy for a moving violation. Investigation determined the driver, Aubrielle Carter, age 28 from Healy was driving the vehicle without having a licensed driver in the vehicle. Carter was issued a misdemeanor summons for Driving in Violation of Instructional Permit.

On January 2, 2025, at 5:55 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that 26-year-old Circle resident Jerek Boyle had shot 48-year-old Circle resident James Gelvin at a cabin in Circle. Troopers and Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation responded. A preliminary investigation revealed that Gelvin and Boyle got into an argument earlier in the day and that Boyle shot Gelvin just outside of the door to the cabin. Gelvin was declared deceased when Troopers arrived. Gelvin's body is being transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for autopsy, and his next of kin have been notified. Boyle was arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center on charges of Murder in the First Degree. The investigation continues.
