    Type: MVC-Moose/Driving with a Revoked License

    On 12/1/25 at 1750 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a moose at mile 91.5 Sterling Hwy next to the Harley Davidson shop in Soldotna. Investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle that struck the moose, Jacqueline Adelaide Taylor, 42 of Anchorage, had a revoked license (for DUI). Taylor was issued a misdemeanor citation for Driving with a Revoked License and released on scene.

    On 12/2/25 at approximately 0800 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Amore Mocha Coffee shop at the corner of Kalifornsky Beach Rd and East Poppy after a report of an older Ford pickup colliding with the Amore Mocha' sign. The vehicle left the scene prior to AST arrival. Investigation is ongoing and if you witnessed the incident you're encouraged to contact AST in Soldotna at 907-262-4453.

    On 12/02/2025 at approximately 1015 hrs. Court Services Officers assigned to Palmer Judicial Services arrested Elizabeth Nayakik, age 33 from Wasilla. Nayakik had an active no bail warrant for her arrest for failure to remand on the original charge of DUI on 08/13/25. Nayakik was contacted and arrested at the Palmer courthouse and remanded to Mat Su Pretrial with time to serve.

    UPDATE, Dec. 2, 2025: Officials from the Alaska State Fire Marshal’s Office and Department of Public Safety responded to the scene on Nov. 26, 2025, after receiving information that 86-year-old Mary Jo Evans was believed to be staying at the Caribou Hotel when it caught fire and was reported missing. Officials searched the scene extensively, including with dogs from MAT+SAR and by hand excavation, however due to the duration and intensity of the fire did not locate any human remains. Evans is believed to be deceased at the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates the fire was accidental in nature.

    ORIGINAL: On Nov. 12, 2025, Alaska State Troopers received a report at 8:12 a.m. of smoke at the Caribou Hotel in Glennallen. Troopers responded to the scene with local firefighters and determined everyone had safely evacuated from the building. Fire quickly spread through the hotel and it became fully engulfed by flames. At least five vehicles were also damaged by the fire. A state deputy fire marshal is traveling to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. GlennRich Fire Rescue, Gakona Volunteer Fire Department and Kenny Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. Please avoid the area while first responders continue to extinguish the fire.

    On 12/1/25 at approximately 2216 hours, AST received a report of a possible kidnapping after the fact. Investigation revealed that William Ogan, age 42 of Palmer, had held his girlfriend against her will at a residence in Palmer, and violated his conditions of release by having contact with her. William was arrested and transported to MSPT, where he was held without bail for the counts of Kidnapping, Assault 4 DV, and VCOR.

    On 12/02/2025, Troopers were dispatched to a residence in Fairbanks with reports of an active disturbance. Through investigation, it was determined that Chad Brett Nanouk, age 32 of Fairbanks, had assaulted his significant other. He was remanded to FCC with no further incident.

    On December 2nd, 2025 at approximately 1900 hours, Fairbanks AST and Fairbanks Emergency Communications Center received several reports of a male dressed in all black walking in the middle of Nordale Road near Freeman Road. While AST was responding to the area an additional caller reported a male matching the description was struck by a vehicle while walking in the middle of the southbound lane. Investigation revealed Nicholas Taylor (Age 22) was walking down the middle of the roadway without any reflective gear. Nicholas was transported by EMS for evaluation.

    Type: Residential Structure Fire - Fatality

    On Monday, December 1, 2025, at approximately 0208 hours, the Steese Volunteer Fire Department received a report of a residential structure fire on Whistling Swan Drive in Fairbanks.  On arrival crews found the single-story residential cabin fully engulfed.  During the response adult human remains were discovered.  Two Deputy Fire Marshals from Fairbanks responded to conduct an origin and cause investigation.   The human remains are believed to belong to the occupant and property owner Alicia Anderson (39 years of age).  Investigation revealed that the fire occurred under intentional circumstances by Anderson herself.  The victim has been transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy and confirmation of identification.  Next of kin has been notified.
