On 02/06/2025 AST conducted a DV investigation in Kake which led to the arrest of Michael Bruse. Michael is charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Assault in the Fourth Degree for causing physical injury to a house-hold member. Michael was transported to LCC in Juneau.

On February 6, 2025, at approximately 1400 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Adam Barber, age 38, from Wasilla. An investigation revealed that Barber had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on the original charge of Assault IV (DV). Barber was arrested on his warrant and remanded to MSPT.

On 2/5/25 at approximately 1857 hours AST received a report of a rollover accident involving a U.S. Army convoy at Mile 107 of the Glenn Highway. Investigation revealed an LMTV lost control, rolling on its side, blocking both lanes of travel at Caribou Creek. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was successfully recovered.

On 02/05/2025, at approximately 2018 hours, AST received a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a civilian vehicle and a military vehicle on the Glenn Highway near Palmer. Investigation revealed that the civilian vehicle had lost control, crossed the median, and struck the military vehicle. Both parties sustained minor injuries and were transported to MSRH. No impairment was suspected, and the civilian driver was issued a citation for Basic Speed, Reasonable and Prudent for Road Conditions.

On 2/5/25 at approximately 2049 hours, Glennallen AST received a report of a deceased male at a residence in the Silver Springs subdivision. AST responded and investigation revealed Michael Townsend age 58, of Copper Center was deceased. There were no signs of foul play and the State Medical Examiner was notified. NOK was identified and has been notified.

On February 5, 2025, at 6:30pm, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a deceased individual located on Long Island. Mark Withrow, age 75 of Kodiak, was boating alone and was overdue. A family friend located his boat, anchored in a lagoon at Long Island. Kodiak AST and AWT responded to the location aboard the AWT P/V Ethics and located Withrow’s body on the shore of Long Island. No foul play is suspected at this time. The body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. Next of Kin has been notified.

FINAL UPDATE: February 8, 2025, 2:30 pm. The Alaska State Troopers, NTSB, and Alaska National Guard aircraft and personnel conducted recovery efforts today at the site of the Bering Air plane crash. Two HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, a Nome-based UH-60L Black Hawk, an HC -130J Combat King II and a team of pararescuemen worked to recover the victims. The bodies have been recovered and brought to Nome where they were positively identified by Alaska State Troopers. The bodies will now be transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage for autopsies. Next of kin has been notified.

30-year-old Andrew Gonzalez of Wasilla

48-year-old Carol Mooers of Unalakleet
UPDATE: February 7, 2025, 9:30am. Search efforts for the missing plane are ongoing. The U.S. Coast Guard, Alaska Air National Guard, Alaska Army National Guard, Alaska State Troopers, and local search teams are actively looking for the aircraft. The U.S. Coast Guard is the lead agency overseeing the ongoing search efforts.
ORIGINAL: On February 6, 2025, at 4:00pm, AST was contacted by AKRCC in reference to an overdue aircraft. It was reported that a Bering Air Caravan had gone missing while en route from Unalakleet to Nome, with 9 passengers and 1 pilot on board. SAR crews are working to get to the last known coordinates. Updates to follow.

On 02/06/2025 at approximately 1512 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an unknown suspect causing a disturbance and refusing to leave a business on Geist Rd. Investigation revealed, Clifton Lord (23M) of Fairbanks, was found to have committed Criminal Trespass. Clifton was arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without further issue.
