On March 14, 2026, at 4:11 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a deceased adult male located on a trail near Kenai. Troopers responded and located 45-year-old Nikiski resident Jeremy Rearick deceased. His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy, and his next of kin have been notified. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner's Office.

On 3/16/26 at approximately 0317 hours, AST received a report of a disturbance at a residence in Wasilla. AST responded and investigation revealed that Silvano Viveiros Jr, age 31 of Anchorage, assaulted a family member and drove while intoxicated. Silvano was arrested and remanded to MSPT for Assault 3 DV, Assault 4 DV, and DUI.

On 03/16/26 at approximately 0830 hours, Court Services Officers assigned to Palmer Judicial Services arrested Brandon Stevens, age 43, of Wasilla on an outstanding arrest warrant for Theft in the Second Degree. Stevens was served with the warrant while in-custody at Matsu Pretrial Facility in Palmer on unrelated charges. On 3/16/26, at approximately 0010 hours, a vehicle driving on Big Lake Road was stopped for speeding. Investigation showed that the driver of the vehicle, Kayuqtuq Oomittuk, age 37 of Palmer, was driving under the influence of alcohol. On 03/15/2026 at approximately 2107 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a blue 2004 Chevy Trailblazer near Church Road and Pittman Road in Wasilla for an equipment violation. As Troopers contacted the driver, a passenger was seen actively hiding themselves in the backseat underneath a blanket. Troopers contacted the passenger, identified as Matthias Sturgeon, age 39 of Wasilla. On 03/16/2026 at approximately 0201 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in Big Lake reference a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Troopers noticed obvious injuries to a household member. Investigation revealed Aimee Bretey, age 53 of Big Lake, had caused injury to a household member. On March 16, 2026, at approximately 2230 hours, AST responded to a report of an MVC across from Iniakuk Ave, where the driver of the veh. was heard in the woods. Troopers eventually found James Gargis (45) stuck in the snow berm about 100 feet from the crash scene, hypothermic but responsive. EMS transported James to FMH for medical care. On 03/16/2026, a Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling eastbound on Geist Road due to a non-functional headlight. Upon making contact with the driver, Jena Sharae Harding, age 40 of Fairbanks, it was determined through investigation that she was operating while under the influence of alcohol.
