    On 03/20/2025 at approximately 1633 hours AST responded to a residence in Palmer in response to a disturbance. Investigation revealed that Doug Kreitel, age 66 of Wasilla, had assaulted a household member and caused physical injury to that household member by means of a dangerous instrument. Kreitel was arrested on charges of Assault 2 DV and Assault 4 DV, and transported to Mat-Su pretrial where he was remanded.

    Synopsis: On March 20, 2025, at approximately 1400 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Palmer attempted to stop a Honda Civic after the vehicle passed a marked AST patrol car, traveling well above the speed limit. The driver failed to yield and led AST on a pursuit through Wasilla for about 25 miles. Troopers successfully deployed Stop Stick Tire Immobilization Devices, deflating the driver’s side tires. AST managed to pin the vehicle into a ditch, bringing the pursuit to an end.  The driver, Jenny Alonzo, age 37 from Wasilla, was arrested for Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer I and remanded to MSPT where she was held without bail

    On 03/20/2025 at approximately 04:03 hours AST Dispatch received a report of a single-vehicle rollover at Parks HWY and Museum PL. The driver was identified as Paul Jones, age 42 of Wasilla. Paul was transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital for his injuries. Paul was conscious at the time of transport.

    On March 18, 2025, Alaska State Troopers received a report from a Pilot Station VPO around 11:10 p.m. of a domestic violence stabbing. Angela Heckman stabbed a man at a residence, then fled the scene. A trooper and VPSO responded from St. Mary’s and arrested Heckman on a charge of second-degree domestic violence assault. The injured man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

    On March 20th 2025, at about 1136 hours, Troopers responded to the area of Powellite Dr in Fairbanks for a disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Upon arrival and further investigation, the suspect was identified as Ziheng Li and was arrested for Assault 4 DV. Ziheng was transported to FCC without further incident.

    On 3/20/2025 at approximately 1230 hours, the Alaska State Troopers Rural Services Unit contacted James D. Martin, age 45 from Venetie while on patrol in the community of Circle. Subsequent investigation revealed Martin had a $275,000.00 warrant for a previous probation violation. Martin was arrested without incident and transported to Fairbanks where he was remanded at the Fairbanks Correctional Facility without further incident.

    On 03/20/2025 at 1605 hours the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop at Mile 211 Parks Highway for a moving violation.  Investigation determined the driver, Lechaun Baker, age 55 of Anchorage had a suspended license.  Baker was issued a misdemeanor summons for DWLS and the vehicle was turned over to a licensed driver.

    UPDATE 3/20/25: As a result of a thorough investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation’s Western Major Crimes Unit, Troopers determined that Kari’s death was a result of a homicide. 28-year-old Napakiak resident Allen Amik was arrested on March 20, 2025, and remanded to Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center on charges of Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and purchasing of alcohol from a non-licensee in a local option village.

    ORIGINAL: On December 22, 2024, at 4:21 am, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of an unexpected death in Napakiak. Patrol Troopers from Bethel and Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation responded. 27-year-old Napakiak resident Kari Nicholai* was located deceased, and evidence at the scene suggests that the death is suspicious in nature. Her body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Next of kin have been notified. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed case responsibility and is continuing to investigate Kari’s death.
