    On March 5, 2026, at approximately 2337 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to Nikiski for a welfare check. Investigation revealed Nicholas Demont (31 y/o) of Kenai had committed the crimes of Violation of Conditions of Release and Unlawful Contact 1. Nicholas was arrested and remanded at Wildwood Correctional Complex.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 03/05/2026 at approximately 2052 hours Glennallen AST contacted Glenn Howard, age 27 of Wasilla, near approximately mile 188 of the Glenn Highway.  Investigation revealed that Howard was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.  Additionally Howard has two prior DUI convictions within the last 10 years and refused to submit to a chemical test.  Howard was placed under arrest and charged with Felony DUI and Felony Refusal.  Howard was transported to Glennallen AST post where he was held until arraignment.

    Type: MIW 3, MICS 5, Probation Violation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 2/27/26 at approximately 1841 hours Palmer AST performed a routine traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Beaver Lake and Ryan's Creek in Big Lake. Investigation revealed the driver, Larry Goss, age 64 of Big Lake, was in possession of methamphetamine and was also driving with a suspended license. Additionally, Goss was on felony probation for Theft 2nd Degree. Goss was arrested for 1 count of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances 5th Degree, Driving While License Suspended and Probation Violation. Goss was transported to Mat Su Pretrial and remanded without bail.

    On 3/5/26, AST executed a search warrant on Goss's vehicle and located a handgun, which Goss is prohibited to have based on his felony convictions. Goss, who was still in custody at the time, was remanded on an additional count of Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd Degree.

    On 03-06-2026, AST received a 911 call that was immediately disconnected. AST responded to the residence of the caller and investigated a disturbance which had occurred that morning. Investigation revealed that Cathy Montague (54-year-old female) had committed the crimes of Assault in the Fourth Degree and Harassment in the First Degree. Investigation also revealed that Jeffery Montague (32-Year-Old Male) had committed the crimes of Assault in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Fifth Degree. Both individuals were arrested and transported to MSPT, they are being held according to the bail schedule.

    Location: Tok
    Type: Warrant Arrest / Vehicle Theft I

    Dispatch Text:

    On 03/05/2026 at approximately 0032 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a vehicle theft from the parking lot of Bears Den Lounge in Tok. Investigation revealed Nancy A. Joe, age 34, was absconding on an active arrest warrant 4TO-25-00082CR with a $250,000 Dollar bail with 10% posting. Further Joe was reported to have taken the vehicle a gray 2003 Hyundai Tiburon bearing AK plate GJV675 without owner’s consent and departed the parking lot. The vehicle was located in the ditch in the Tok area and recovered. Joe was located later in the evening and arrested on the outstanding warrant. The keys belonging to the vehicle were located on Joe’s person and Joe later confessed to taking the vehicle. Joe was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center on the outstanding warrant and charged with Vehicle Theft I and held on no bail pending arraignment.

    On 3/6/2026 at 1633 hours an individual called 911 to report a road rage incident on college road, it was reported that a gun was brandished placing two occupants in fear. Troopers located the vehicle and contacted Tanner Kendall the driver he was ultimately arrested for assault 3 (x2), DUI, and MIW4. he was remanded to FCC.

    On March 05, 2026, at approximately 2352 hours, Fairbanks AST received a request for an Agency Assist in the Eielson area for a report of a strangulation between spouses were suspect was 21 y/o Lilly Gayler. Upon investigation, Lilly was arrested for Assault 4 under AS11.41.230(a)(1) and remanded to FCC.

    UPDATE 3/6: On March 5, 2026, a Palmer Grand Jury indicted 22-year-old Wasilla resident Ian Millard for murdering Ataja Banks in 2023 after a thorough investigation led by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation. On March 6, 2026, the Alaska State Trooper SWAT team arrested Millard as he was driving on Knik Goose Bay Road. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on his active arrest warrant for charges of Murder in the Second Degree, Manslaughter, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

    ORIGINAL 9/23/25: In November 2023, the Anchorage Police Department began investigating the disappearance of 18-year-old Anchorage resident Ataja Banks from the Anchorage area. The Alaska State Troopers assumed case responsibility after it was determined that she was last known to be alive in the Mat-Su Valley. On September 4, 2025, Troopers located human remains in the area of Moose Meadows Road in Wasilla that have been positively identified as Banks. Information learned during the investigation leads Troopers to believe that Banks was murdered. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is continuing its investigation into Ataja's murder. Her next of kin have been notified, and her body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office, which has completed an autopsy.
