    On 10/17/2024 at approximately 0921 hours, AST received a report of a stolen 2015 Silver Jeep Cherokee from 3300 N Bald Eagle Drive, Wasilla AK. Upon investigation the Jeep was located on the corner of E Tattler Drive and N Snow Goose Dr. (approximately a minute from the residence) unoccupied. The Jeep had a cut tow strap coming the rear of the vehicle and the plastic cowling around the gear shift had been removed and used to take it out of park. Investigation still ongoing for further suspects and leads.

    On 10/17/2024 at approximately 0109 hours Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Alexander Otto operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Alexander was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial facility for DUI. Bail was set at release on recognizance.

    On 10/16/2024 at approximately 2356 hours, AST responded to a disturbance in Palmer, AK. During the investigation, Sheridan Pegg (06/17/1998) of Sutton, AK, was found to have been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.  Sheridan was arrested for DUI and violating conditions of release.  He was remanded at Palmer Pretrial and held per the bail schedule.

    On 10/17/2024 at approximately 0751 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a call from Three Bears’ employees that an intoxicated male was sitting in the driver seat of a vehicle with the engine running in the parking lot of the KGB Three Bears. After an investigation, it was determined the driver, 42-year-old Jason Hawkins, was too intoxicated to be driving while under the influence of alcohol. Jason was arrested for DUI and remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial.

    On 10/17/2024 at approximately 0858 hours, AST received a report of a vehicle theft near Mile 19 of KGB Rd. in Wasilla. Investigation revealed a white 1987 Dodge pickup, 1018DS, was taken from the property. The vehicle was later located and recovered. Two generators and other property items were recovered from the vehicle as well. Individuals with any information regarding this incident are encouraged to contact AST. Investigation is ongoing.

    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/17/2024 at approximately 0909 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a welfare check in the Fairbanks area. The caller was wanting to have law enforcement check on their brother, Geoffrey Lawinger, and verify that he was okay. Subsequent investigation revealed that Geoffrey was deceased. The State of Alaska Medical Examiner's Office was contacted and released jurisdiction of the decedent to the family. Next of kin was notified of the circumstances. Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home responded to provide services for the family. No foul play was suspected in this circumstance at this time.

    On 10-16-24 AWT discovered several trash cans at the Sitka Sportsmans Association RV park had been tipped over and fed upon by one or more brown bears. Investigation revealed Brittany Henry, age 29, of Sitka, had negligently left human food or garbage unsecured which resulted in the feeding of a big game animal. Henry was cited for Feeding Game, fine $320.
