On 02/05/2026 at about 1335 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted and arrested Zachariah Baareman, age 28 of Ketchikan at business on Venetia Avenue. Investigation revealed that Baareman was a convicted Sex Offender out of Michigan who failed to register as a sex offender in Alaska where he now resided. Baareman was arrested, transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center. AST would like to thank the concerned citizen(s) who made an anonymous report to the Alaska State Troopers.

On February 5, 2026, at approximately 1923, Alaska State Troopers responded to a road rage incident in Wasilla. Investigation showed that the driver of one vehicle, Skyler Schlosser, age 26 of Wasilla, was driving under the influence of alcohol. On February 4, 2026, AST responded to a reported disturbance near Vine and Hollywood involving John Davenport, age 35 of Wasilla. Witness statements and interviews revealed that John confronted two individuals in the driveway while armed with a shotgun, pointed the weapon toward them, and threatened to kill one of them. A child inside the residence observed John with the shotgun during the incident. John was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault in the Third Degree (DV) and one count of Assault in the Presence of a Child. He was transported to Palmer Pretrial Facility without incident and he is being held without bail, pending arraignment.

On 02/05/2026 at 0838 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a moose which had been hit by a vehicle and killed near Mile 222 Parks Highway, just north of Cantwell. The driver who hit the moose failed to report it to Troopers as required. Anyone having information about who hit the moose is requested to contact AST Dispatch in Fairbanks at 907-451-5100. Motorists are reminded if they hit Alaska wildlife with their vehicle, they need to report that as soon as possible to the Troopers. The moose was salvaged by a charity.

On 02/05/2028 at 1520 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a single vehicle rollover at approximately Mile 160 Parks Highway, 50 miles south of Cantwell. The driver, Jeff Maze, age 47 from Anchorage was issued a citation for Basic Speed. One lane of the Parks Highway was closed for about a half of an hour to facilitate vehicle recovery.

AK Wildlife Troopers

On January 31, 2026, Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Bethel received a report of a dead muskox outside of Lower Kalskag. The area in and around Lower Kalskag (Game Management Unit (GMU) 19) has no open season for muskox, and initial reports indicated the muskox had not been salvaged.
Wildlife Troopers responded and investigated the scene. Troopers determined that the muskox was shot illegally, and no efforts were made to salvage any of the meat. Through the service of search warrants and interviews Troopers determined 42-year-old Lower Kalskag resident Joseph Kameroff killed the muskox. Kameroff was arrested and remanded to Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center on a probation violation as well as new charges of Taking Muskox Closed Season, Wanton Waste of Big Game, Using Artificial Light to Take Big Game, and Taking Game Using a Motorized Vehicle. We appreciate all of the information provided by the residents of Lower Kalskag that has aided our investigation.
