On 6/11/25 at 1030 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Vaughn Eric Graham, 30 of Nikiski, at a residence off Boondocker St. in Nikiski. Investigation revealed Graham had an outstanding arrest warrant for Failure to Schedule remand to Wildwood with an original charge of DUI. Graham was arrested and remanded with three days to serve at Wildwood pretrial.

On 6/14/2025 at approximately 2113 hours, AST received a report of a collision at the intersection of KGB and Carmel Rd. Investigation revealed that Randy Clement, 29 YOA, had failed to stop at a stop sign which resulted in a collision. It was also revealed that Randy was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Randy was arrested and remanded to MSPT, where he was held on his own recognizance.

On 6/15/2025 at approximately 0248 hours, AST received a report of a single vehicle collision at mile 93 of the Parks Hwy. AST and EMS responded, and investigation revealed that a vehicle occupied by two individuals had left the roadway and rolled several times, resulting in the driver being ejected from the vehicle. The passenger was transported to MSRH via ground EMS for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was transported to MSRH via LifeMed for life-threatening injuries. Investigation is ongoing.

On 06/15/25 at 0605 hours, AST was on patrol and observed a white Chevrolet Cruz parked at a gas pump without pumping gas for an extended period of time in Wasilla. Investigation revealed the operator, Michael Leffingwell, had drug paraphernalia in his hands and was passed out behind the wheel. Sobriety testing showed Michael was under the influence of impairing substances. Michael was remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial for DUI.

On June 14, 2025, Alaska State Troopers received a report that Michael Pelkey fell overboard in Blackstone Bay and died. His body was transported back to Whittier and sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office. Pelkey’s next of kin were notified.

On 06/15/2025 at approximately 1815 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a domestic disturbance near W. Winter Way. Investigation revealed Keaton Oldham, age 24 of Wasilla recklessly caused physical injury to household member. Keaton was also operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Keaton was placed under arrest for DV Assault 4th degree and DUI. Keaton was transported to MPST where he was remanded, and bail was set at his own recognizance.

UPDATE 6/18/25: The Alaska State Troopers who discharged their firearms during the officer-involved shooting on June 14th are identified as:
- Trooper Jacob Barker, a six-year veteran of the Alaska State Troopers
- Trooper Kody Haley, a nine-month veteran of the Alaska State Troopers
- Trooper Edward Owens, a four-month veteran of the Alaska State Troopers
The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is continuing their thorough investigation into the incident. Once their investigation is complete it will be independently reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions.
UPDATE 8:45 p.m. 6/15/25: The adult male who died during this incident is 34-year-old Wasilla resident Kyle Lambert. Lambert's next of kin have been notified.
ORIGINAL: On June 14, 2025, at around 11:30 pm, multiple Alaska State Troopers were searching a property in Houston for an adult male who had an active felony warrant for his arrest. Troopers located the man hiding in a camper on the property, which he refused to exit despite the troopers' orders to do so. As Troopers entered the camper to arrest the man, he produced a handgun. Due to his actions, the man was shot by multiple Troopers. The man was declared deceased on the scene. Next of kin notifications are in progress; once next of kin have been notified, the man's name will be released. The man’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. No Troopers or other persons were injured during the incident.
The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed case responsibility and will conduct a thorough investigation into the shooting. Once their investigation has been completed, it will be independently reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions. The Troopers who discharged their firearms have been placed on 7 days of administrative leave in accordance with DPS policy; their names will be released in three days.
