    On October 19th, 2025 at approximately 2100 hours, the Alaska State Troopers (AST) conducted a traffic stop on a blue pickup truck on Kachemak Drive for going 47 mph, in a 35 mph zone. The driver, Joe Rand, age 58 of Homer, was subsequently arrested for one count of DUI and one count of Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test. Joe was transported to the Homer Jail for remand.

    On 10/20/25 at 1123 hours, AST responded to a disturbance near Wasilla. AST contacted Ronald Demientieff age 30 of Wasilla. Investigation found Ronald assaulted a family member, Ronald was arrested, transported and remanded to MSPT for DV assault 4th, assault in the presence of a child X2 and DV criminal mischief in the fourth.

    Dispatch Text:

    On October 19, 2025, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a fatal ATV incident in the village of Mertarvik. Troopers responded to the scene and identified the deceased as 40-year-old Noah Bob Waska of Meriarvik. Evidence at the scene showed that the ATV had veered off the roadway, with tire tracks visible in the grass. The four-wheeler was found approximately 10 feet from Waska, resting on its right side. The body has been transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. Next of kin was notified.

    UPDATE: On October 14, 2025, a Bethel Grand Jury indicted Stephanie Aguthluk for Murder 2, Manslaughter, Assault 1, Hindering Prosecution, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. John Lamont was indicted on Hindering Prosecution and Tampering with Physical Evidence. A thorough Investigation by investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation determined that Stephanie Aguthluk had physically assaulted Michael Andrews Jr., causing serious internal injury that led to his death. John Lamont attempted to help Stephanie cover evidence of the crime. Aguthluk and Lamont were arrested and remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. 

    ORIGINAL: On April 10, 2025, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a deceased person at a residence in Emmonak. Troopers responded and found 54-year-old Michael Andrews Jr. deceased. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death. Andrews’ next of kin have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.

    Dispatch Text:

    On October 19, 2025, at approximately 2022 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a red Ford F-250 for speeding and lane violations on the Mitchell Expressway in Fairbanks. investigation revealed the driver, identified as Kayla Fifer (30) of Fairbanks, was impaired by an alcoholic beverage or intoxicating liquor. She was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. A firearm and open container of alcohol were also found in the vehicle. Fifer was transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center and remanded on the charges of DUI and Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Fourth Degree.

    On 10/20/2025, Troopers responded to a hotel on Birch Lane in Fairbanks after hotel staff reported a guest breaking multiple doors. The suspect, identified as Adam McGinty, was found nude, intoxicated, and covered with a blanket. An investigation revealed he committed the crime of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree and was remanded to FCC.

    On October 20 2025 the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a theft of a firearm from a vehicle.  William Thomann, age 25 of Fairbanks reported his pistol had been stolen from his vehicle.  The investigation is ongoing.

AK Wildlife Troopers

    Location: Kodiak

    Dispatch Text:

    On October 15, 2025, at 10:00am, Kodiak Alaska Wildlife Troopers were notified of an overdue hunter that had gone out the day prior and not returned yet that morning. Investigation revealed that two adult male residents of Kodiak had departed the Saltery Cove Trailhead on 10/14/2025 and neither had been heard from.  AWT conducted a search via ATV of Saltery Cove Road and the Saltery Cove trail systems, including all remote cabins and structures in the area. One of the hunters was located at approximately 3:00pm. AWT continued to search the area until dark, and at 7:43pm located the second hunter alongside the trail, suffering from mild hypothermia.  AWT transported both hunters out of the field and to awaiting EMS.
