On 10/27/2025 at approximately 0648 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported disturbance at a residence in Sterling. Investigation revealed Taryn Julia Celestine Bell, age 33 of Soldotna, had assaulted a family member. She was arrested for Assault 4th Domestic Violence and remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility. She was held with no bail pending arraignment.

On 10/08/25 at approximately 0915 hours, an employee of Three Bears in Ninilchik contacted AST to report shoplifting. The suspect left the scene before AST arrival, but the victim provided Troopers with footage of the theft from when the suspect first entered the store to when they drove away. Troopers knew the suspect in the footage to be Jessy James Ackerman (36 YOA) of Anchor Point. Ackerman was interviewed on 10/27/25 and he admitted to leaving the store without paying for the $3.80 breakfast burrito. Ackerman was issued a summons for theft in the 4th degree with a mandatory court date set for later.

On 10/27/2025 at approximately 1515 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Engstrom Road & Hart Lake Loop in Wasilla. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles sustained major damage and were towed from the scene.

Location: WasillaType: Fail to Stop at Direction of a Peace Officer, Assault 2, DUI, VCOR.Dispatch Text:
On 10-26-25 at 2122 hours AST received a report of a disturbance on W. Warbler Street. AST responded and observed one of the involved parties, Gabriel Lie-Schaeffer (32) leaving in a vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated, and Gabriel failed to yield. During the pursuit, he ignored traffic control devices, turned off his vehicle’s lights, and exceeded 100mph. He ultimately collided with another motorist on Clapp Road. The victim was taken to the hospital with broken bones. Gabriel was charged with Fail to Stop at Direction of a Peace Officer, Assault 2, DUI, and VCOR.

On 10/26/25 AST received a report of a suspicious vehicle near Williwaw Way. The driver, Eric Karlsen was found to have a $1,000 Felony warrant for Promoting Contraband and Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial.

On 10-26-2025 at approximately 1732 hours, AST received a report of a hit and run accident with no injuries. The investigation revealed that Teresa Freitag, 64 YO of Palmer left the scene of an accident, passed in a no passing zone and was driving while intoxicated. Freitag was issued a court date for leaving the scene of an accident. Freitag was transported and remanded to Palmer Pre-trial for driving while intoxicated and released O/R.

On 10/27/2025 at approximately 2037 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop at Hollywood Road and Eider in Wasilla. The driver was identified as Gregory Holland, age 56 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Gregory was operating a motorized vehicle while being impaired. Gregory was arrested for the crime of DUI. Gregory was transported to AST post for datamaster processing. Gregory refused to provide a breath sample to the datamaster. Gregory was charged with DUI refusal. Gregory was transported to Matsu Pretrial where he was remanded and held on a $1,000 bail.

On 10/26/2025 at approximately 2146 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a domestic disturbance in the area of Farmers Loop Road and Iniakuk Avenue. Upon arrival and subsequent investigation by Troopers, it was revealed that Desire Sampson (31) of Fairbanks had assaulted her husband. She was arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center under the charges of Assault in the Fourth Degree AS 11.41.230(a)(1).

On October 27, 2025, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a male subject bleeding from the mouth on a residential porch in Fairbanks. The individual, identified as Kyle David Sparks, appeared disoriented and under the influence of methamphetamine. Investigation revealed that Sparks had caused property damage and initiated a physical altercation, during which another individual acted in self-defense. No arrests were made at the time, and Sparks was transported to the hospital for treatment. Charges of Criminal Mischief in the Fifth Degree are being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

On October 24, 2025, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a deceased individual inside a vehicle parked near 2865 Goldstream Road in Fairbanks. Upon arrival, Troopers and EMS confirmed the death of Gary Tancik. No signs of foul play were observed at the scene. The State Medical Examiner has requested the body for autopsy. Next of kin have been notified.
