On 08/05/2025 at approximately 1611 hours, Troopers took a report of an abandon vehicle in the area of 187.5 Glenn Highway. The vehicle was left abandon on the property for approximately 2 months. Upon further investigation, Georgia Jackson, 42 of Copper Center, was charged with Abandonment Unlawful.

On 8/14/2025 at approximately 1132 hours, AST received a report of a stolen vehicle near Bogard Rd. and Williwaw Way. in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Joshua Johnston, age 35 of Wasilla, was driving in a stolen vehicle. Johnston was arrested after a short foot pursuit. Johnston was charged with Vehicle Theft 1st and Failure to Stop at the direction of a Police Officer. Johnston was remanded into MSPT where he was held without bail.

On 08/13/2025 at approximately 20:58 hours AST Dispatch received a report of a hit and run in Palmer. The suspect vehicle was followed to a parking lot and AST arrived on scene. Investigation revealed that Marcy Case, age 40 of Palmer, was driving the suspect vehicle while under the influence of Alcohol. Marcy was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial for DUI.

On 08/13/2025 at 2242 hours Troopers received a call regarding a sexual assault. Multiple Troopers and ABI responded. After further investigation, there was no victim cooperation and no one wanted to press charges. This case is closed.

On 08/13/2025 at 2155 hours the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a semi for a headlight violation. The driver verbally provided a name and date of birth for an individual who was licensed to drive the commercial semi vehicle. Investigation determined the identity of the driver was Pavel Chihai, age 33 currently residing in Fairbanks. Chihai was arrested and remanded to FCC for False Report, Driving a CMV without a CDL, and Criminal Impersonation 2nd. He was released on his own recognizance. AST is pursuing other investigative leads in this incident and additional criminal charges are expected for Chihai and other individuals.

On 08/14/2025, at approximately 1816 hours, Fairbanks AST conducted a traffic stop in the area of Thomas Edison Way in North Pole. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Ethan Wiehl-Ortiz, who had an outstanding warrant for felony escape. The driver of the vehicle provided a false name. Once properly identified as Caleb Roberts, he was arrested for false information and his outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Caleb is also a convicted felon and was found in possession of a concealed handgun, and was charged with misconduct involving weapons in the third degree. Both Ethan and Caleb were remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without incident.

On 08/14/25 at approximately 2019 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. The investigation revealed Diana Chace to be operating a vehicle while under the influence. She provided a sample on the Datamaster, which resulted in a BrAC of 0.159. She was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center with a $500 bail.

On August 14, 2025, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen purple Huffy Rock Creek Mountain bike from a residence on Loose Moose Loop. Video surveillance from the victim's Ring camera captured the theft, which occurred on August 11, 2025. Case is currently under investigation.

On Aug. 13, 2025, Alaska Wildlife Troopers were notified of an adult male hiker who was lost and injured on Arctic Brotherhood Mountain in Skagway. The man left the main trail the afternoon before and became lost, but sheltered overnight. He injured his ankle when he resumed searching for the trail and called for help around 12:30 p.m. Search and rescue efforts were initiated by troopers, the Skagway Police Department and Skagway Fire Department. Upon reaching the man, searchers realized additional resources were needed to transport him off the mountain. A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter responded to the area around midnight on Aug. 14 and transported the man to a Juneau hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
