    Location: Ninilchik

    Advisory Text:

    On October 10th, 2025 at approximately 2000 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford truck at the Tesoro gas station in Ninilchik. The truck was seen operating with expired registration. Subsequent investigation led to the driver James Taylor, age 60 of Ninilchik, being issued a summons for one count of Driving While License was Revoked. James was also cited for having No Proof of Insurance, and Operating a Vehicle with Expired Registration.

    Location: Wasilla
    Type: Pursuit

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/09/2025 at approximately 2154 hours, Alaska State Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Williwaw subdivision. The vehicle attempted to elude through the neighborhood before Troopers utilized a PIT maneuver to stop and immobilize the vehicle. The driver, Joshua Selman, age 29 of Wasilla, fled on foot before being apprehended by the pursuing Trooper. Selman was arrested for felony failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, as well as two active felony arrest warrants (3PA-24-00803CR Fail to appear for pre-trial conference O/C-Criminal mischief I the third degree, and 3PA-24-01898CR Fail to appear for pre-trial conference O/C-Theft in the second degree and three counts of Violating condition of release for a felony). Selman was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial without bail.

    On 10/10/25 at approximately 1319 hours Palmer AST performed a routine traffic stop on a vehicle on Copper Creek Rd and N Williwaw Way. Investigation revealed a passenger in the vehicle, Seth Rogers, age 35 of Wasilla had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failing to appear on original charges of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances 5th Degree. Rogers was arrested and transported to Mat Su Pretrial where he was remanded and held on $250 bail.

    Type: Warrant Arrest

    On 10/10/25 at approximately 1455 hours Palmer AST responded to an address in Williwaw for a suspicious circumstance. During the investigation it was learned that two individuals, both with outstanding warrants for their arrests had recently been in the area. With assistance from Wasilla Police Department a vehicle of interest was located leaving the area and ultimately contacted at the Fishook Food Mart near Wasilla Fishook and Seldon. AST and WPD ultimately located Kenneth Jenks, age 37 of Wasilla, hiding in the woods behind the store. Jenks had two warrants for his arrest, the first for original charges of 4 counts of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substance 5th Degree with a bail of $250, the second for original charge of Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd Degree with a bail of $500. Jenks was arrested and transported to Mat Su Pretrial where he was remanded for his warrants and held on $750 bail. AST would like to thank the Wasilla Police Department for their assistance in this case.

    On 10/10/25 at approximately 1730 hours Palmer AST responded to a motor vehicle collission at KGB and Fairview Lp in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Matthew Vendetti, age 39 of Wasilla had been operating while under the influence of alcohol. Vendetti was arrested for DUI and transported to Mat Su Pretrial where he was remanded on 1 count of DUI and held on $500 bail.

    On 10/10/2025 at approximately 1413 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Wyoming Drive and Overview Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Ryan Wissing, age 31 of Big Lake, was driving on a suspended license while at the time on conditions of release. Ryan was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial for the charges of Driving While License Suspended and Violate Conditions of Release with bail set at $1,000.

    On 10/10/2025 at approximately 1830 hours Troopers responded to a delayed shoplifting at the HUB in Glennallen. Video was obtained and suspects have been identified. This case is active.

    Location: Savoonga
    Type: Assault

    Dispatch Text:

    On Oct. 9, 2025, a Village Public Safety Officer in Savoonga received a report of a domestic violence disturbance. The preliminary investigation indicated that Josephine Waghiyi, 36, attempted to shoot someone inside a residence, then stole a separate rifle and began driving through the community on an ATV and firing. Waghiyi approached the VPSO while they were stopped at a residence and pointed the rifle at the VPSO. A civilian saw this and rammed their own ATV into Waghiyi’s vehicle, causing her rifle to fire in a different direction than the VPSO. Village Police Officers responded and pursued Waghiyi by ATV through the village. At one point, she turned around at a high speed and tried to hit the VPO. The VPO took evasive action to avoid her, but his ATV crashed as a result. The VPO sustained serious injuries and was medevacked for treatment. Waghiyi was taken into custody by the VPSO with assistance from the community. Troopers responded to the community by plane and Waghiyi was remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center on charges of assault, theft and misconduct involving weapons.

    Type: Recovered Stolen Vehicle

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/09/2025 at approximately 1417 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the Goldmine Trail area of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Fairbanks Police Department on 09/28/2025. The vehicle was recovered and turned over to FPD.

    Type: Huslia Assault of a Child

    Dispatch Text:

    Galena Troopers received a report from the Huslia TPO that Athena Sam had assaulted her 11 year old son at their residence in Huslia. Troopers responded and developed probable cause to arrest Athena Sam for 1 count of assault 3 and 4 counts of assault in the presence of a child. Athena was arrested and remanded to FCC.

    On 10/8/2025, Troopers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver was Identified as Austin Attla. Troopers observed signs of impairment who was ultimately arrested for DUI. A records check revealed that this would be his 3 DUI/Refusal leading to a felony charge for DUI. He was remanded to FCC after proving a breath sample of .234 BrAC.

    On 10/10/2025 Alaska State Troopers contacted Christopher Ozella on a traffic stop in Fairbanks. It was revealed that Christopher was out of compliance with the Sex Offender Registry and was remanded to FCC without incident.
