On 12/27/2024, at approximately 1518 hours, AST was in the midst of a welfare check investigation. When they arrived at a property to check on a male, they contacted an occupied vehicle. One of the occupants, Luke Spiers, age 32 of Kenai, was contacted and determined to have an outstanding bench warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While License Revoked, Operating with No Motor Vehicle Insurance, and Failing to Title a vehicle. Luke was arrested without incident and remanded to Wildwood Pre-Trial Facility.

On 12/27/2024, at approximately 2023 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a dark Subaru north on Kenai Spur highway in Nikiski. The driver, Marc Bennett, age 22 of Nikiski, was driving a vehicle with a revoked license (DWLR). Additionally, Bennett was on conditions of release on a separate case where one of the underlying charges was DWLR. Bennett was arrested on a new charge of DWLR, and secondly for violating his conditions of release. Bennett was transported to Wildwood Pre-Trial where he was lodged on a $250 bail based on the court-ordered bail schedule.

On December 28th, 2024, at approximately 1339 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop near the Williwaw subdivision for a moving violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Steven Narron, age 34, of Wasilla, had a warrant for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender. Steven was arrested for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender as well as his outstanding warrant. Steven was remanded at MSPT where he was held on $500 bail.

On December 27, 2024 at approximately 2203 hours Palmer AST responded to a vehicle in the ditch near Fireweed and Nelson. Investigation revealed that Christopher Sorensen, age 28 of Anchorage, had operated the vehicle under the influence. Sorensen was arrested for DUI and subsequently remanded at Mat-Su pretrial where he was held on $500 bail.

On 12/28/2024 at approximately 0703 hours, AST received a report for a medical assist for CPR in progress near Outer Springer Loop in Palmer. AST arrived on scene and assisted EMS with CPR. At approximately 0744 hours, Sandra Peticolas-Garley, age 78, was pronounced deceased by natural causes, no foul play suspected. Next of kin was on scene and notified. The State Medical Examiner released Sandra to the family.

On December 28, 2024, at approximately 0212 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a silver Toyota driving without its headlights off. The driver was identified as Noah Escalante by his Alaska ID. After further investigation, Noah was arrested for driving under the influence. He was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without incident.

On December 28, 2024, at approximately 0346 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a blue Chevy Silverado for an obscured license plate. The driver was identified as Johnathan Ward by his Alaska ID. After further investigation, Johnathan was arrested for driving under the influence. He was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without incident.

On December 27, 2024, at approximately 1658 hours AST was notified that 77-year-old William Tritt Sr. was found deceased in Stevens Village. Next of Kin was already on scene. The State Medical Examiner’s Office released William to the family.

On 12/28/2024, at approximately 1600 hours, Fairbanks AST received numerous reports of a motor vehicle collision on Badger Road near Bradway Street resulting in the injury of an adult cow moose. The driver of the vehicle did not report the collision of the moose. AWT is investigating the collision, and gathering video from businesses in the area.
Anyone with information regarding the vehicle that struck the moose is asked to contact Fairbanks AWT in reference to the above incident number.

Update: Investigation led to the arrest of 20-year-old Ravensmoon Rupp of Chugiak, for the crimes of Assault 1, Assault 2, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Ravensmoon was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer.
On December 28, 2024, at 12:25 am, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a shooting at an outdoor party near the 26000 block of West Susitna Parkway in Big Lake. The Alaska State Troopers immediately responded along with the Wasilla Police Department, Palmer Police Department, and Mat-Su Borough EMS. Three individuals were injured in the shooting and taken to area hospitals. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed case responsibility and at this time Troopers believe that they have detained everyone involved. The investigation is active and ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
