On the evening of 04/09/2026 AST was notified of a Domestic Violence Assault in Angoon. Following the investigation, on 04/10/2026 AST arrested Stephen Johnson, 40-year-old male of Angoon. He is charged with DV Assault 4, Interfering with the report of a DV, as well as committing the DV Assault in the presence of a minor. Stephen was remanded to Lemon Creek Correctional Facility to be held without bail pending arraignment.

On April 9, 2026, at approximately 2029 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were made aware of an inmate who had introduced contraband to Wildwood Correctional Complex. Investigation revealed Jordan Coghill, age 35 of Kenai, introduced dabs, a concentrated cannabis extract, to the Wildwood Correctional Complex. He was remanded for Promoting Contraband 1.

On 04/09/2026 at approximately 1832 hours AST received a call of a REDDI (report every dangerous driver immediately) at approximately 8.5 Mile Post of Funny River Road. The vehicle was reported to be facing the wrong way on the road with a sole occupant possibly intoxicated. Troopers responded and conducted a DUI investigation that led to the arrest of Jesse Hayes, a 44-year-old of Soldotna. Jesse was transported and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial for DUI.

On 04/10/2026 at approximately 2220 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Lorraine Fairchild, age 44, of Wasilla, at a residence in Wasilla. Fairchild had an active arrest warrant for failure to comply with conditions of release. Fairchild was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial for her warrant and held on a $2,500 bail.

On 04/10/2026 at 0138 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on E. Seldon Road near E. Village Loop in Wasilla. The driver, Shawn Schmit, age 40 of Wasilla, was found to have a revoked license and was on active Palmer Pretrial supervision with conditions to obey all laws. Schmit was arrested for Driving While License Revoked and Violation of Conditions of Release. He was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial, where he was held on $1,000 bail.

On 04/10/2026 at 0446 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near Mile 201 Parks Highway. AST responded and contacted a female walking along the road. The female, Micaela Sherman, age 31 from Anchorage attempted to convince Troopers that people she didn't know left her in their vehicle, in the ditch, in the cold, and with no working phone with the hope she could get a tow truck. Sherman was subsequently arrested and remanded to FCC where she was charged with DUI, DWLR, and VCOR. She was held on $500 bail pending arriagnment.

On 04/01/2026 at approximately 2333 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks contacted Claire Silas 38 YO after receiving a report that she was driving erratic on Stacia Street in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Claire was driving under the influence of an impairing substance. Claire was arrested for DUI and remanded to FCC.

On 4-10-2026 at approximately 2001 hours, AST responded to the intersection of University and Geist for a report of a head on collision. Investigation revealed that Brian West,34 yoa, failed to yield to another vehicle that had the right away in the intersection and subsequently caused a collision. No injuries were reported, both vehicles were totalled and were towed away. Brian was issued a citation and released on scene.

On 04/09/2026, Alaska Wildlife Troopers patrolled the area of Rippy Trail for bear bait stations. AWT discovered a bait station registered to Andrew Flory, age 36, of Anchorage. Investigation revealed the site had not been cleaned up since 2023 regulator year. Andrew was cited for Failure to Clean Site End of Season, and provided a mandatory court date.

On April 9, 2026, Task Force Dawnbreaker—comprised of the Alaska Bureau of Investigation Technical Crime Unit and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations—contacted Joseph William IV, age 23 of Wasilla, during the course of a child sexual abuse material (CSAM) investigation. The investigation was initiated after investigators identified a substantial quantity of suspected CSAM stored within an online storage account associated with Williams.
Williams was taken into custody without incident and arrested for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. He was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.
