On 12/28/2024, Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point responded to a rolling disturbance on the Sterling highway near Ninilchik. Subsequent investigation determined Demitri Merculief (30 years old) had shut off the vehicle from the passenger seat multiple times while the vehicle was traveling at highway speeds, placing the driver in fear of imminent serious physical injury. Demitri was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial on 1x each of Assault 3, Reckless Endangerment, and Violating his Conditions of Release.

On 12/29/2024 at approximately 0120 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Parks Highway and Pittman road on a Chevrolet Suburban for swerving in the roadway. Through investigation it was determined that the driver of the vehicle, Christopher Hunt age 47 of Wasilla, was driving under the influence. Christopher also was in possession of a handgun while intoxicated. Christopher was placed under arrest for DUI and Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the 4th degree and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was remanded and held per the bail schedule.

On 12.28.24 at approximately 1046, MATCOM received a report that a Red Ford Escape had driven off the road down, the embankment, near mile marker 92 of the Glenn Highway. EMS and AST located the vehicle approximately 150 feet down the embankment. The occupants sustained no injuries and were assisted back up the embankment. The Glenn highway was closed for approximately 2 hours while emergency crews assisted the occupants. Icy road conditions are believed to be a contributing factor to the incident.

On 12/29/2024 at approximately 1324 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to an address on Hanson Loop in Wasilla for a death investigation. Investigation revealed a 77-year-old male passed away from natural causes. No foul play is suspected and next of kin was on scene.

On 12/29/2024 at approximately 1327 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to an address on Robert Lile Circle in Palmer for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation led to the arrest of Charles Soper, age 56 of Palmer for DVPO Violation. Soper was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.

On 12/29/2024 AST responded to a REDDI report in the area of KGB and Clapp reference an intoxicated male operating a white chevy pickup truck. The investigation reviled that Michael Benedict age 65 of Wasilla was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Michael then refused to provide a valid breath sample and was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and refusal to provide a breath sample. Michael was provided with a summons for court and later released.

On 12/28/2024 at 2310 hours, a Trooper conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. The driver, Rebecca Norris, had a suspended license with prior convictions in the last ten years. Norris was criminally cited for DWSOL.

On 12/29/2024 at 0527 hours, Troopers responded to a disturbance. Investigation revealed Christopher Mccabe committed the crimes of Terroristic Threatening 2 and Assault four on Shawn and Alicia Wolf. Charges are being pressed, and arrest warrants have been requested. This investigation is ongoing.

On December 29, 2024, at approximately 1246 hours, AST received a report of a person shot in the arm in the area of Old Valdez Trail. The victim was transported by a neighbor to meet EMS on the roadway and transported to FMH. The suspect was identified and located shortly after. The investigation is ongoing.
