On April 3, 2026, at approximately 2303 hours, AST was traveling southbound on the Sterling Highway when they observed a vehicle drive onto the center median. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Spencer Tressler (18 y/o) of Anchor Point, was found to be intoxicated. Tressler was arrested and remanded at Wildwood Correctional Complex for DUI and Minor Operating after Consuming Alcohol (MOCA).

On 04/03/2026 at about 1734 hours, Soldotna AST received a 911 call from a Sterling Resident stating they had discovered Philip J. French, 69 of Sterling, deceased in his residence. The investigation revealed no suspicious circumstances.

On April 4, 2026, at 12:34 pm, Alaska State Troopers in Soldotna received a 911 call reporting that Everett Strong, age 22, of Soldotna, had been found unresponsive in his bedroom. The family and Central Emergency Services performed life-saving efforts, including CPR and administering Narcan. Ultimately, the efforts were unsuccessful, and Everett was pronounced deceased. The investigation revealed controlled substances may have contributed to his death. This investigation is ongoing.

On 04/04/2026 at approximately 2023 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported disturbance in Palmer. Troopers subsequently located and conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Nissan Sentra near Mile 40 of the Glenn Highway. The driver, Ryliegh Thorstad, age 20 of Anchorage, was identified as the individual involved in the earlier disturbance. Investigation revealed Thorstad was operating the vehicle while impaired. She was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial.

On 4/3/2026 at approximately 1609 hours, AST was dispatched to a collision with entrapment at Mile Marker 121 of the Parks Highway, in Trapper Creek. Upon arrival on scene, EMS personnel checked the driver, Carter Freymiller of Fairbanks, for possible injuries, and observed possible impairment and an odor of alcoholic beverage while speaking with the driver. AST arrived on scene at approximately 1649 hours, and after completing Field Sobriety Tests with Mr. Freymiller, arrested him for Driving under the influence. His Blood Alcohol Concentration upon chemical testing was shown as .279, and he was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial in Palmer.

On 04/04/2026 at approximately 0808 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were contacted regarding a DV conditions of release violation. Investigation revealed Ian Collins, age 36 of Wasilla, violated his conditions of release by contacting the victim of the DV case. On 04/04/2026, AST conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was unable to maintain its lane of travel near Wasilla. The driver was identified as Karena Sandvik, aged 51, of Palmer. An investigation revealed that Karena was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and with a revoked driver's license. On April 03, 2026, at approximately 0114 hours, AST responded to a disturbance in the area of Delta Junction. Investigation revealed that Shannon Dean Nichols, age 29 of Delta Junction, had assaulted his domestic partner. Nichols was arrested for DV Assault charges and transported to FCC.

Troopers received a REDDI report of an impaired driver in a white camouflage van. The vehicle was located near MP 336, where it was observed speeding and failing to maintain its lane. The driver, James Fussell, was found to be impaired and was arrested for DUI and remanded to FCC.

On 04/03/2026, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling westbound on Airport Way after it failed to signal a left turn. The driver, identified as Calvin Jaymz Miller, age 27 of Fairbanks, was found to be operating a vehicle with a revoked license and had a prior conviction for the same offense, elevating the current violation to a misdemeanor.
