    On 5/16/2025 at approximately 0018 hours AST was dispatched to Palmer for a report of domestic assault Investigation revealed that Daneya McDowell assaulted a household member. She was arrested and remanded for Assault 2, Assault 3, Assault 4, and Assault in the presence of a child x3. All crimes are Domestic Violence related. She was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility and held on no bail.

    On 05/16/2025 at approximately 0056 hours Alaska State Troopers received a call about a male dosing off in a Blue Dodge Ram parked at the Speedway Gas Station on Knik Goose Bay Rd.  Troopers arrived and contacted the male driver, HUNTER YNCLAN.  Troopers also located a black handgun in the vehicle.  Investigation revealed Hunter was under the influence of alcohol.  Hunter was placed under arrest and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was remanded for Operating Under the Influence and MIW 4.

    On 05/15/2025 at approximately 1943 hours Alaska State Troopers were dispatched to a residence off of Backhaus Rd in Houston for a report of a Disturbance.  Troopers arrived and contacted all parties involved.  Through investigation it was revealed that OSCAR VALENZUELA age 23 of Houston had burned a household member item and assaulted them as well.  Oscar was arrested and remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial for Tampering with physical evidence, DV Assault 4 and Criminal Mischief 5.  Oscar was held without bail.

    On 05/16/2025 AST responded to reports of a disturbance in Palmer. Through investigation, AST determined that Nina Mccready, age 39, of Wasilla, had caused physical injury to a family member. She was arrested for DV A4 and transported to Mat-Su pretrial where she was held without bail.

    On 05/15/2025 at approximately 1445 hours, Court Services Officers assigned to Palmer Judicial Services arrested Katie Nienhaus, age 32, of Wasilla. Nienhaus had an outstanding no bail arrest warrant for two counts of Violating a DV Protective Order. Nienhaus was served with the arrest warrant while in-custody at Matsu Pretrial Facility in Palmer on unrelated charges.

    On 05/16/2025 at approximately 1510 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a Trespassing at Three Bears near Pittman Rd. in Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that Crystal Churchill, had a lifetime trespass from all Three Bears properties in Alaska.  Additionally, Crystal had two outstanding warrants for failure to appear for MISC5, and DWLR, Crystal was arrested her for the outstanding warrants and Trespassing in the second degree.  Crystal was remanded at Matsu Pretrial and held on $250 bail for each of the warrants.

    On May 16th, 2025, at approximately 0500 hours, AST received a report of a burglary after the fact. Investigation revealed that 32-year-old Jourdan Avila of Wasilla had burgled a residence in Wasilla along with several other individuals. Jourdan was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial for First-Degree Burglary, Theft in the Fourth Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the Fifth Degree.

    On 05/16/25, Kodiak AST along with TCU arrested 22-year-old Kodiak resident, Izaya T. Pruitt after a 3-month investigation into unlawful exploitation of a minor and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). In February 2025, AST was alerted to a runaway juvenile and after locating her and bringing her home it was discovered the mom had learned the child sold sexually explicit videos of herself to an unknown person online. The child’s phone was seized, interviews were conducted, and multiple search warrants were applied for over the 3-month period. Through those warrants, Izaya was identified, and it was clear he knew the child and her family. There was clear evidence of unlawful exploitation of a minor and possession of child sexual abuse material in the form of 3 CSAM photos and 8 CSAM videos. The money was also tracked from Izaya’s Credit Union 1 account to the victims Cashapp account. Izaya was arrested and remanded to the Kodiak Jail. The case is still on-going concerning seized electronics and additional search warrants.

    On 05/16/2025 at 0135 hours a Trooper stopped a bicyclist for an equipment violation. The rider gave the Trooper a false name and date of birth. The Trooper ultimately identified her as Elizabeth Alexander. She was arrested for her Felony; No Bail Parole Violation warrant as well as False Report.

    UPDATE 5/16: 

    The Alaska State Troopers and Fairbanks Police Officers who discharged their firearms during the May 12th officer-involved shooting are identified as:

    • Alaska State Trooper Sergeant Brent Hatch, a 13-year veteran of the Alaska State Troopers
    • Alaska State Trooper Zachary Chicoine, a 4-year veteran of the Alaska State Troopers
    • Alaska State Trooper Peter Testa, a 1-year veteran of the Alaska State Troopers
    • FPD Officer Chris Conrad, a 1-year veteran of the Fairbanks Police Department
    • FPD Officer Nathan Jackson, a 1-year veteran of the Fairbanks Police Department
    • FPD Officer James Kuplack, a 5-year veteran of the Fairbanks Police Department
    • FPD Officer Michael Sullivan, a 1-year veteran of the Fairbanks Police Department

    The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is continuing their thorough investigation into the officer-involved shooting, homicide, and domestic disturbance. Once their investigation is concluded, it will be independently reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions. 

    ORIGINAL: On May 12, 2025, at 10:23 pm, the Fairbanks Police Department (FPD) responded to a domestic disturbance on Washington Avenue in Fairbanks. As FPD officers arrived in the area, 36-year-old Fairbanks resident Thomas Bean began shooting at FPD officers with a semi-automatic rifle, striking the officers’ vehicles. FPD officers and Bean exchanged gunfire. Bean was struck by the FPD’s officers’ gunfire. Multiple Alaska State Troopers and additional FPD officers responded to assist. Bean continued to defy officer commands. Due to his actions, multiple law enforcement officers shot at Bean fatally striking him.

    Additional investigation revealed that prior to the FPD officers arriving, Bean had shot and killed 29-year-old North Pole resident Jesse Bidgood. Bidgood was declared deceased at the scene; both bodies are being sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Next of kin have been notified. Two Fairbanks Police Officers were treated for minor injuries sustained from shrapnel that was created as Bean shot at the officers.

    The Alaska Bureau of Investigation (ABI) is investigating this incident and has assumed case responsibility. Once their investigation is complete, it will be independently reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions. The Alaska State Troopers who discharged their firearms have been placed on seven days of administrative leave in accordance with Department of Public Safety policy. The Fairbanks Police Officers who discharged their firearms have been placed on administrative leave in accordance with FPD policy. The names of all of the officers who discharged their firearms will be released in three days.
