UPDATE: During the investigation, troopers discovered that 34-year-old Charles Merculief was responsible for the stabbing. He was remanded on charges of first- and fourth-degree assault, and furnishing alcohol to a minor in a local option community.
ORIGINAL: On Jan. 27, 2026, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stabbing in Stebbins. Troopers responded to the scene and found a 17-year-old female with serious injuries. She was medevacked to Anchorage for treatment. During the investigation, troopers contacted 18-year-old Destini Washington and 34-year-old Charles Merculief, who were taken into custody on unrelated warrants. The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.

On Wednesday, February 04, 2026 at approximately 12:41AM AST was notified of a delayed domestic assault with the suspect no longer on scene. On scene, it was determined multiple counts of Assault in the Fourth Degree had transpired. On 2/3/2026, Fairbanks AST received a report of threats being made to a witness of an on-going criminal case. Based on information disclosed during the investigation, James Bennet, age 39 of Fairbanks, was arrested for two counts of Interference with Official Proceedings, Terroristic Threatening in the Second Degree, and Stalking in the Second Degree.

On 02/04/2026 at approximately 0204 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of an assault domestic violence in North Pole. Investigation revealed Giavonni Ayala, 26 YOA, assaulted a family member causing injury. Giavonni Ayala was arrested on one count Assault 4th Degree/DV and remanded to FCC.

On 02/04/2026 at approximately 0151 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Macy Nakak, 21 YOA, at a residence in Fairbanks. Nakak had an active arrest warrant for Failure to Appear with underlying charge of MICS 5th Degree. Nakak was remanded to FCC on the warrant.
