On 2/3/26 at 1140 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on an older pickup for a traffic violation near the intersection of the Kenai Spur Hwy and Nikishka Beach rd in Nikiski. Investigation revealed the driver, Darla Rae Kirschner, 65 of Nikiski, has a suspended license. Kirschner was issued a mandatory misdemeanor citation for driving with a Suspended License (DWLS) and released.

On 1/14/26 at about 1250 hours, a female came to the Alaska State Troopers Anchor Point Post to report an assault involving her husband, Stephen Sheehan. An investigation showed Sheehan had assaulted the female twice in the previous month. An arrest warrant was obtained for Sheehan charging him with two counts of assault in the 4th degree. On 2/4/26 Troopers contacted Sheehan at his residence and were able to take him into custody on his warrant. Sheehan was found to be in possession of metal knuckles at the time of his arrest. On 02/04/2026 at approximately 1025 hours, Court Services Officers assigned to Palmer Judicial Services arrested Korie Russell, age 35, of Wasilla on an outstanding arrest warrant for Theft in the Second Degree and Concealment of Merchandise. Pierce was served with the warrant while in-custody at Highland Mountain Correctional Center on unrelated charges. UPDATE: During the investigation, troopers discovered that 34-year-old Charles Merculief was responsible for the stabbing. He was remanded on charges of first- and fourth-degree assault, and furnishing alcohol to a minor in a local option community.
ORIGINAL: On Jan. 27, 2026, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stabbing in Stebbins. Troopers responded to the scene and found a 17-year-old female with serious injuries. She was medevacked to Anchorage for treatment. During the investigation, troopers contacted 18-year-old Destini Washington and 34-year-old Charles Merculief, who were taken into custody on unrelated warrants. The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.

On Wednesday, February 04, 2026 at approximately 12:41AM AST was notified of a delayed domestic assault with the suspect no longer on scene. On scene, it was determined multiple counts of Assault in the Fourth Degree had transpired. Based on information disclosed during the investigation, James Bennet, age 39 of Fairbanks, was arrested for two counts of Interference with Official Proceedings, Terroristic Threatening in the Second Degree, and Stalking in the Second Degree.

On February 2, 2026, Anvil Mountain Correctional Center (AMCC) personnel reported they found an inmate in possession of a drugs during a routine search of cells and inmates in one of the facility's housing quadrants. Ernest W. Butler (43 yoa of Anchorage) possessed approximately 10 grams of hashish on his person when searched. The drug tested positive for THC. ABI completed the investigation on February 4, 2026, and remanded Butler to AMCC on one count of Promoting Contraband in the 1st Degree.
