    On 09/04/2024 at approximately 2115 hours, AST attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red Nissan near the intersection of Wasilla Fishhook Rd and Seldon Rd for speeding. The vehicle failed to yield to AST and drove in a reckless manner on Schrock Rd. The vehicle came to a stop at a residence off of E McKenzy Menard Cir. in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Nathan Eichorst, age 18 of Wasilla, was driving recklessly and eluding AST. Eichorst was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial for the charge of Reckless driving and Felony fail to stop at the direction of a peace officer with no bail set.

    On 09/05/24, Court Services Officers assigned to Palmer Judicial Services arrested Charles Cox, age 36 from Wasilla.  Cox had an active warrant for his arrest for violating a domestic violence protective order. Cox was in custody at Matsu Pretrial and was remanded on the warrant and held without bail.

    Update: On August 28, 2024, at 8:00pm, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a body found in the Kuskokwim River below Akiachak.  Bethel Search and Rescue advised AST they had recovered the body. AST took position of the body which was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage. The SMEO positively identified the deceased individual as 31-year-old Robert Lott of Akiak who went missing on July 27, 2024, after a report of a capsized boat near Akiak.  Next of Kin has been notified.

    Update: On August 8, 2024, at 10:30am, Alaska State Troopers were notified by Akiak Search and Rescue a deceased individual had been located by a boater on the Kuskokwim River just down river from Akiak. AST responded and conducted an investigation. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage. The SMEO positively identified the deceased individual as 28-year-old David Alexie Jr. of Tuluksak who went missing on July 27, 2024, after a report of a capsized boat near Akiak.  Next of Kin has been notified.

    Original Release: On July 27, at 11:30 pm, The Alaska State Troopers received a report of a boat that capsized near Akiak. One passenger on the boat was able to self-rescue but was unaware of the location of the other two passengers. Residents searched the area throughout the night. On July 28 at 9:45 am, troopers deployed a boat and an AWT Super Cub to the area to conduct a search of the area. The Bethel Regional SAR Team has been notified to assist. Search efforts are continuing at this time.

    On September 4th, 2024, the AST Criminal Suppression Unit (CSU) in Fairbanks attempted warrant service on Hugh Demoski, 65, of Anvik near Harley Trail. Demoski had an outstanding $250,000 felony arrest warrant for 2 counts of Murder 2nd Degree, Misconduct Involving Weapons 4th Degree, and Violation of Conditions of Release for Felony (ref. 4AK-22-00079CR).

    CSU located Demoski and placed him under arrest without incident. Demoski was then transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center

    On September 5, 2024, at approximately 1111 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received the report of a death in Allakaket. 41-year-old Joseph Semaken was found deceased. Nothing suspicious was found on scene. Next of kin is aware of the loss.

    On 09/05/2024 at approximately 1501 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to the area of North Pole for a report of a death. EMS responded to the scene to provide medical services for the individual, but the individual was pronounced as deceased upon Troopers arrival. Next of kin has not yet been notified. No foul play is suspected at this time. This case is currently under investigation.

    On 9-5-24, Parks Highway Alaska State Troopers received a report that a Cantwell residence had three tires/rims taken from a vehicle in their yard.  The theft occurred in the last several years.  Unknown leads or suspects at this time.  Incident is under investigation.

    On 09/05/2024 at approximately 1622 hours, AST received a report of a theft from Three Bears in Tok. Investigation led to the arrest of Nancy Joe for Criminal Mischief in the 5th degree, Criminal Trespassing in the 2nd Degree, and a Probation Violation. Nancy was transported to FCC.

    On 09/05/2024 Troopers contacted the driver of a white 1993 Toyota sedan bearing license plate KNE721, Marcicio Mallory on a traffic stop for failure to maintain lane. Troopers conducted investigation which ultimately led to Marcicio's arrest for the crime of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence, AS28.35.030(a)(1), a Class A misdemeanor crime. Additionally Marcicio was charged with Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test, AS28.35.032(a), a class A Misdemeanor crime.

    On 9/4/2024, at approximately 1811 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers received an InReach distress call from solo-hunter, 35-year-old Jonathan Jurasek. Jonathan was cold, wet, and lost within the Twenty-Mile River drainage. Alaska Rescue Coordination Center (AKRCC) responded to Jonathan’s location and successfully extracted him from the field with no apparent injury. Alaska Wildlife Troopers would like to thank the AKRCC for their quick response and efforts in the mission.

    On 9/4/2024, investigation revealed 27-year-old Fairbanks resident, Steve Wilson, to have illegally taken a cow moose closed season and without a permit. Furthermore, Steve failed to salvage all edible meat from the animal. Arraignment is set for October 15th in the Palmer court.
