On 1/12/2026 at approximately 1440 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported four vehicle collision near milepost 3 Kenai Spur Road. Investigation revealed there was a line of northbound traffic, waiting for a car to turn left off the highway. A blue 2017 Ford Escape crashed into the rear car of that line, a white 2002 GMC SUV. The SUV was pushed across the center line from the collision, sideswiping a southbound blue 2020 Ford pickup. That SUV then struck a second southbound vehicle, a gray 2021 Honda CRV, head on. Multiple parties were injured, none life threatening, and transported to the hospital. Impairment was not believed to be a factor. On 01/13/2026 at approximately 1630 hours, members of the Criminal Suppression Unit (CSU) located Bryce Berg, 36 YOA of Wasilla at a residence in Meadow Lakes. Berg was placed under arrest for an outstanding felony warrant for the original charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Theft in the Second Degree, and Criminal Trespass in the First Degree. Berg was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial with a $5,000 dollar bail.

On 01/04/2026, Selawik based State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at a residence. Charlie Myers Jr was reported intoxicated at a residence of someone he was not supposed to be in contact with. Charlie was contacted at his residence and stated he was someone else. Charlie was arrested and charged with Violating Conditions of Release, Unlawful Contact 2nd and false report

On 01/04/2026 at approximately 13:56 hours Nome based State Troopers were notified of a disturbance in Gambell. Nikolai Avalun was reported to have struck a minor, threatened suicide and attempted to load a .308 rifle before family had intervened. After being detained by local police Avalun fled the Public Safety Building, damaged property, injured a VPO during resistance and made repeated death threats. Avalnun is charged with Escape 2nd, Assault 3rd, Assault 4 (x3), Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief 5th (x2) and Disorderly Conduct.

On 01/03/2026 at approximately 17:18 hours Bethel based State Troopers responded to a notification of a deceased individual in Chevak. Francis Chayulkun was pronounced deceased at his home after life-saving measures (CPR) were performed. AST determined there was nothing suspicious of the death and classified it as a natural death. Next of kin has been notified and Francis has been released.

On 01/04/2026 at approximately 1350 hours Alaska State Troopers received a report of a sexual assault in the YK Delta region. The victim was interviewed but refused to conduct a SART exam and requested no more support from Alaska State Troopers. The case has been closed due to lack of evidence, leads and the victim's unwillingness to proceed.

On 1/7/26 at approximately 0946 hours, Anchorage Judicial Service CSOs were advised of a warrant remand for Eusebio Martinez Bautista in the Nesbitt Courthouse. Eusebio was subsequently arrested and remanded on his warrant to Anchorage Jail without incident.
