Location: SewardType: REDDI, DUI, Minor ConsumingDispatch Text:
On 8/3/2025, at approximately 1903 hours, Seward AST received a REDDI report in Cooper Landing of a silver SUV driving erratically, nearly hitting the guardrail. Seward AST received a second associated REDDI report of the same vehicle near mile 22 of the Seward Highway of a silver SUV driving erratically, having difficulty maintaining a steady position on the roadway. AST was able to locate the vehicle from Moose Pass, contacting the vehicle near mile 10 of the Seward Highway. Investigation led to the arrest of a 17yoa driver from Seward for the charges of DUI, Open Container, Minor Operating a Vehicle After Consumption of Alcohol, and driving in violation of a provisional license. The passenger, Reign Jack, age 20 of Seward, was issued citations for Minor Consuming Alcohol and Minor in Possession of alcohol. Both individuals advised they were coming from Salmonfest in Ninilchik, and were released to a sober adult after processing.

On 8/4/25 at 0035 Alaska State Troopers dispatch received two separate calls that a female was passed out behind the wheel of a sedan in the roadway on W Moose Ridge Circle. Investigation revealed Isabella Siegel (23) was intoxicated. She was arrested and remanded for DUI and MIW 4.

On July 31, 2025, Alaska State Troopers assisted the Nome District Attorney’s Office in contacting Saint Michael Village Police Officer Joseph Galindo to prepare for an upcoming trial involving Thomas Lockwood where he was the primary witness. Galindo made inconsistent and illogical statements during the call and an investigation revealed he fabricated the incident at the center of the trial. The charges against Lockwood were subsequently dismissed and Galindo was arrested on charges of official misconduct, hindering prosecution, reckless endangerment and false reporting.

On July 28th, 2025, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a boat crash on the Kwethluk River involving a drunk operator. The suspect had since returned to the village of Kwethluk and was reportedly operating an ATV while under the influence and concerning community members. Troopers responded to Kwethluk and determined that 4 underage persons had taken a boat from Bethel to the Kwethluk River and been drinking and smoking marijuana while travelling. Investigation revealed that Nathaniel Ayapan, 19, of Kwethluk, had been operating a watercraft and ATV while under the influence of alcohol. Ayapan provided a sample of his breath that measured .111 BrAC. Ayapan was placed under arrest for two counts of Driving Under the Influence and remanded to YKCC.

On July 28th, 2025, the Alaska State Troopers received a report from Kwethluk Police that a subject in protective custody had set fire to the mattress inside their jail cell with theirself locked inside. Troopers responded to Kwethluk and found the mattress burnt and thick smoke in the jail portion of the department. There were no other sources of flame found in the cell other than the lighter in the subject's pocket. Trinton Epchook, 22, of Kwethluk was placed under arrest for Arson 1st Degree and remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

On July 31st, 2025, the Alaska State Troopers received a tip that Carl Williams, 35, of Akiachak was attempting to import alcohol into Akiachak, a local option village that has banned the possession, sale, and importation of alcohol. Troopers contacted Williams and conducted an investigation, resulting in the seizure of 16 bottles of hard liquor destined for Akiachak. Williams was charged with one count of felony Importation of Alcohol. This charge was referred to the Bethel DAO.

On 8/4/2025, Troopers responded to an open-line 911 call from 1357 Brock Road, where a verbal altercation between a male and female was heard. Upon arrival, Mindy Riley was uncooperative but showed visible abrasions. CH stated he prevented Mindy from drunk driving and she fell off an ATV, during which she bit him. Mindy was arrested for Assault in the Fourth Degree and Unlawful Contact in the Second Degree. Mindy was remanded to FCC.

At approximately 2337 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a welfare check in the area of Sheep Creek Road and Hay Way in Fairbanks. Upon arrival, Troopers contacted Robert Nielsen, age 30, of Fairbanks. It was discovered that Robert had operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Additionally, Robert transported two minor children while under the influence. Robert was arrested for DUI and endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree. He was transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center and remanded into custody without incident.

The investigation revealed that Michelle Shaw had violated her conditions of release. Michelle was arrested and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on one count of VCOR and one count of Unlawful Contact.

On August 3, 2025, at around 12:00 pm, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers were notified of a lost hiker near Sharatin Mountain in Kodiak. The adult female hiker was able to call 911 and her location was determined. Kodiak Island Search and Rescue hiked to the female and assisted her back to the trailhead.

On August 2, 2025, at around 1:20 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that a side-by-side style ATV had rolled over near mile 19 of Petersville Mine Road. Wildlife Troopers patrolling in the area responded along with EMS. A juvenile occupant of the ATV was declared deceased at the scene. The juvenile’s next of kin have been notified, and the body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. An adult male occupant was not injured during the rollover. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

On August 2, 2025, at around 3:00 pm, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers were notified of two stranded hikers near Boy Scout Beach Trail in Juneau. The hikers were stranded on the beach along a steep cliff and were unable to return to the trailhead. Wildlife Troopers responded aboard the P/V Sentinel and rescued both adult hikers. They declined medical care and were transported to Auke Bay harbor.
