On 12/18/23 at approximately 1120 hours, Juneau based Alaska State Troopers attempted to stop a 2001 red Dodge Durango for speeding. The vehicle failed to yield when emergency lights and sirens were activated. The driver operated the vehicle in a reckless manner almost causing multiple accidents. The pursuit was suspended for the safety of the public. Anyone with knowledge of the vehicles whereabouts or information regarding the incident should call the Alaska State Troopers at 907-465-4000.

On 12/17/2023 at approximately 2240 hours while on patrol, AST observed a gray pick-up truck stuck in a ditch just east of Knik Goose Bay Rd. and Carmel. Upon contact it was determined through investigation that the driver, Brandon Harman, was operating while under the influence. Mr. Harman was placed under arrest and ultimately transported and remanded to Matsu Pre-Trial on charges of DUI and Refusal to submit to a chemical test.

On 12/17/2023 at approximately 1707 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a hit and run collision on the Parks Hwy near Trunk Road in Palmer. Investigation revealed a large white Ram truck struck the complainant and failed to stop as required by law. The vehicle continued north on the Parks Hwy and is reported to have front end damage. Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact Troopers. No injuries were reported.

On December 17, 2023, at 0849 hours I was on patrol on Airport way road near Wilcox Avenue when I observed a dark color ford escort driving at a fast rate of speed with its headlights off. Investigation revealed Jody M. Mekiana (41 Y/O of Fairbanks) to be driving under the influence of alcohol and controlled substances. Jody was arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional center for DUI and Misconduct involving a controlled substance.

On December 18th, 2023, at approximately 8:12 am, Alaska State Troopers (AST) in Galena received a report of a deceased adult male in Galena. AST responded and located 52-year-old Galena resident Patrick Anderson deceased inside his home. Investigation and consultation with the State Medical Examiner's Office determined the death appears consistent with natural causes. The caller was reporting that their father, Orin Redinger of the Fairbanks area, has not been heard from since October 4th, 2023. The family is concerned of Orin’s whereabouts. Orin does not have a vehicle or residence at this time, and it is unknown what clothing he was last wearing. This case is currently under investigation. The Alaska Wildlife Troopers, along with assistance from United States Forest Service Law Enforcement, increased their enforcement presence during the Southern Southeast Sitka Blacktail deer “rut” in early November of 2023. This operation included the use of increased manpower, 12 patrol vehicles, four patrol vessels, five artificial wildlife, and a lot of rain gear. The program targeted two main areas of concern that the public has made complaints about over the last couple of years: Spotlighting and shooting from the roadway. The State of Alaska expects all hunters to realize the importance of hunter conduct and the need for safe firearm use and fair chase practice. The results from the operation efforts produced 53 charges/citations issued by Alaska Wildlife Troopers. 5 rifles and multiple spotlights were seized.

Location: WasillaType: Home invasion/Death InvestigationDispatch Text:
On December 17, at 9:00 am, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a home invasion and shot fired at a residence in Wasilla. Troopers and EMS arrived and found the suspect of the home invasion, Justice Beaudoin-Martinez, age 22 of Houston, who was unknown to the residents, suffering from a single gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures were attempted but he was ultimately declared deceased. Investigation revealed the two residents of the home had discovered Beaudoin-Martinez inside their home and a physical altercation ensued, during which the male resident was stabbed in the arm. The female resident retrieved a firearm and fired a single gunshot, in defense of her husband, which struck Beaudoin-Martinez and resulted in his death. The scene investigation is consistent with an act of self-defense. The male that was stabbed suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was treated at a local hospital. Next of kin was notified.
