Location: SoldotnaType: DUI, Assault on LEODispatch Text:
On 12/22/2024 at approximately 1733 hours, AST received a REDDI report of an adult male who had shown up to a local business, seemingly intoxicated. AST patrol responded to the area and contacted the male, later identified as Joseph Freel, age 36 of Kenai. During the investigation Freel charged and attacked the investigating troopers resulting in minor injury. Freel was ultimately arrested for DUI and two counts of Assault 4 on LEO and remanded to Wildwood Pre-trial Facility where he was held on a $2,000 bail.

On 12/16/24 at 1437 hours, Troopers and State Park Rangers responded to an address on East End Road for a disturbance. An investigation led Troopers to arrest Matthew Stinsman, 32 of Homer, for assaulting his girlfriend the previous night. Stinsman was arrested and transported to the Homer Jail pending arraignment.

On 12/22/2024, at approximately 1321 hours, Alaska State Troopers received two REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) reports of a black Jeep Grand Cherokee driving erratically on both Kenai Spur Road near Kenai and the Sterling Highway in Soldotna. The vehicle was contacted at it's registered address and the driver, Meagan Korin Ladwig, age 45 of Soldotna, was contacted. Investigation revealed she had been driving the vehicle while impaired and under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

On 12-21-2024 at 1915 Hours, Anchor Point AST responded to an address in Vosnesenka for a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival at the property, AST contacted Spiridon A. Martushoff (57) of Nikolaevsk while he was in the driver’s seat of his pickup truck. Investigation revealed that he was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Dispatch confirmed that Martushoff was currently on conditions of release that stated he was to obey all state laws. Martushoff was arrested for DUI and VCOR. He was booked into Homer Jail with a bail of $750.

On 12/22/2024 at approximately 2330 Alaska State Troopers were dispatched to a vehicle in the ditch on Polar Road in Fairbanks. The driver of the vehicle, Charles Draper (62M) was found to be under the influence of alcohol through investigation. Charles then refused to provide a chemical breath sample in violation of Alaska's Implied Consent law. Charles was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center with no issues.

On 12/21/2024 at 1558, Alaskan State Troopers were dispatched to a disturbance near Plack Road in North Pole. Through investigation, Troopers arrested Leeroy King (39M) and charged him with two counts of Domestic Violence, Assault in the fourth degree with. Leeroy was remanded to Fairbanks Correction Center without further incident.

On 12/22/2024 a Trooper stopped out with an individual walking on Dennis Road who identified himself as Brock Willis. Willis had a warrant out for his arrest and was taken into custody without incident at 0424 hours and transported to FCC for remand.

On December 19, 2024, at approximately 0422 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that EMS had responded a residence near Nelson Road, and CPR was currently in progress. Shortly after, Ashley Ward, age 32, was pronounced deceased. The next of kin was notified on the scene. At this time no foul play is suspected.

On December 21, 2024, at approximately 2340 hours, the Alaska State Troopers initiated a traffic stop on Badger Road. The driver of the vehicle identified himself as Paul Dennis, age 47. Further investigation revealed that Paul's license had been revoked. Paul was issued a summons to appear before the court.

On December 22nd 2024, at about 0920 hours, Troopers responded to the area of Skyline drive for the report of an single vehicle MVC damage, that was blocking the roadway. Upon arrival, Troopers observed significant damage to the guard rail and the vehicle. Troopers were able to get ahold of the owner and confirm no injuries. DOT has been notified of the damage to the guardrail.

Troopers located suspected controlled substances and paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Charges for Misconduct involving a controlled substance are pending.

On December 22nd 2024, at about 1430 hours, Troopers were notified of CPR in progress on a 70 year old female at the Tannana Valley Shooting Range in Fairbanks. After lifesaving measures were given by EMS and Fire, Barbara Logan, was pronounced deceased from natural causes. NOK has been notified.

On December 16, 2024, AST responded to a motorist assist at around 2019 hours. Troopers observed a vehicle in the ditch on Parks Hwy at the Little Shot Rd intersection. Upon further investigation it was determined that the driver, John Nageak, had been operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, which caused the accident. John was arrested and charged for DUI and Refusal. He was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center.

On December 18, 2024, at around 1822 hours, AST responded to a report of vehicle vandalism on the Chena Pump Road in Ester. The offender, Rachel Yaska, had hit the victim's car using her vehicle and then continued to hit the victim's car with her bat before fleeing the scene. AST located Rachel and subsequently placed under arrest. She was remanded to FCC for Criminal Mischief in the third degree.

On 12/22/2024 at about 1953 hours, Alaska State Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a truck for erratic driving, speeding, and driving on the wrong side of the highway on the Parks Hwy near Otto Lake Road in Healy. Investigation determined the driver, GABRIEL WOODY, age 29 of Healy, was driving under the influence of alcohol with a 7-year-old child in the vehicle. WOODY was arrested for DUI & Endangering Welfare of a Child 1st Degree, processed for DUI, and released to a sober adult with a notice to appear in court for an arraignment date per the Statewide Bail Schedule.

On 12/22/2024 at 1303 hours, AST responded to a collision at mile 249.5 of the Parks Hwy in Healy. Investigation revealed SHANG YANG, age 36 of California, was driving too fast for the road conditions, attempted to turn off the highway into a hotel driveway, but was unable to stop and collided with the face of a guardrail causing damage to the rental car he was driving and the State of Alaska DOT installed guardrail. YANG was issued a citation for driving too fast for the conditions and the vehicle was towed due to the disabling damage.
