Location: HoustonType: Motor Vehicle Collision - Serious InjuryDispatch Text:
On 11/24/2024 at approximately 1557 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to mile 56 Parks Hwy in Houston for a serious-injury motor vehicle collision. Initial investigation revealed a 1998 Jeep Cherokee was northbound on the Parks Hwy when for an unknown reason it crossed over the center yellow line and struck a 2012 Honda Minivan that was southbound on Parks Hwy. A total of three patients were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The highway was intermittently closed for two hours for rescue crews and scene clean up. Investigation into this incident is ongoing.

On 11/24/2024 at approximately 1700 hours, Alaska State Troopers were on scene of a motor vehicle collision near mile 56 Parks Hwy in Houston. A vehicle failed to comply with a Trooper directing traffic and hit the Trooper with his vehicle. The driver was quickly detained and identified as Warren Slater, age 43 of Talkeetna. Slater was arrested for Assault III and DUI and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail. The Trooper was not injured.

On 11/24/2024 at approximately 1506 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Mat-Su Regional Hospital for a trespassing issue. Investigation led to the arrest of Wendy Claggett, age 58 of Palmer, for Criminal Trespass II. Claggett was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and released on her own recognizance.

On 11/24/24 at approximately 0416 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Palmer received a report of a disturbance at a residence on Reisner Loop. Troopers responded to the scene and contacted 26-year-old Nicole Smart of Palmer. Investigation revealed Nicole assaulted a household member during an argument. She was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where she was remanded and held without bail.

On 11/23/24 at approximately 2131 hours Palmer AST performed a routine traffic stop on a vehicle near Hollywood and Valley View for an equipment violation. The driver was identified as Beauford Horman, age 43 of Wasilla, and was found to be on parole for Robbery 1st Degree. During the stop a parole search was conducted of Horman's vehicle and controlled substances were located inside. Horman was arrested for 1 count of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances 5th Degree and for violating his parole. The vehicle was seized pending a search warrant. Horman was later remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held without bail. Investigation continues.

On 11/24/2024 at approximately 0444 hours, Troopers took a report of a deceased person in the area of Copperville Road. Upon further investigation, Sheila Titell, 68, of Tazlina was found to be deceased. No foul play suspected. The State Medical Examiner's Office was contacted and declined jurisdiction. Next of Kin was notified.

On 11/24/2024, at approximaltey 1300 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received an anonymous warrant tip in the area of Garten Drive in Wasilla. AST responded to the scene. AST contacted Bethany Ferguson, age 32, of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Bethany had two outstanding arrest warrants. One warrant was for Vehicle Theft I and the second warrant was for PTRP. Bethany was arrested and transported to Matsu Pretrial where she was remanded and held on a $10,000 bail.

On 11/23/24 at approximately 1215 hours, AST contacted Tony Sam Jr. (age 64 of Huslia) at his residence. Tony had a $10,000 warrant for his arrest (original charge Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree). AST placed Tony under arrest and transported him to Fairbanks Correctional Center (FCC) where he was remanded on his warrant.

On 11/23/24, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post located dumped deer meat and trash on a popular beach access near Starrigavin River. Investigation revealed much of the meat was spoiled and had never been preserved for human consumption. The approximately 100 lbs of debris was creating a bear attraction hazard and was removed. Anyone with information regarding this offense is asked to contact Alaska Wildlife Troopers at (907) 747-3254. Location: SitkaType: Fail to Salvage DLP BearDispatch Text:
On 11/15/24, Chance Allen, age 37, of Sitka, reported taking a female brown bear in defense of life and property (DLP) near Salisbury Sound on 11/13/24. Investigation revealed the take of the bear was legitimate under DLP regulations, however, Allen had failed to salvage the bear hide and skull as required. Allen was cited for failing to immediately salvage a DLP taken bear. An arraignment is set in the district court at Sitka.
