    On 3/31/2024 at approximately 2223 hours, Soldotna AST responded to a REDDI report in the Nikiski area.  AST located the vehicle and subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of 23 year old Jamerson Carter of Nikiski for Felony DUI and DWLR.  Carter was remanded to Wildwood pretrial facility where he was held without bail pending arraignment.

    On 03/31/2024 at approximately 1928 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a firearm theft from a residence in Big Lake. Unknown suspect(s) stole the complainant's Kel-Tec CP33 .22 pistol. Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact Troopers, Crime Stoppers or AKTips.

    On 03/31/2024 at approximately 2225 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop near mile 2.5 Big Lake Road in Big Lake. Investigation revealed Amy Caswell, age 38 of Wasilla, was driving on a suspended license. Caswell was issued a misdemeanor citation for DWLS and released on her own recognizance.

    On 04/01/2024 at approximately 0004 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Bogard near Crusey Street in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Dale Alstrom, age 46 of Wasilla, was driving on a revoked license. Alstrom was issued a misdemeanor citation for DWLR and released on his own recognizance.

    On 03/31/2024 at approximately 2303 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Parks Hwy and Ethels Cir in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Carolynn Welte, age 43 of Big Lake, was driving without motor liability insurance. Welte was issued a misdemeanor citation and released on her own recognizance.

    On 4/1/2024, at approximately 1700 hours, AST responded to a residence on Trible B St in Wasilla for an anonymous warrant tip. AST contacted Christopher Chudnofsky, age 51 of Wasilla. Christopher had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. The original charges were DWLR x2. Christopher was arrested and transported to Matsu Pretrial where he was remanded and held on $750 bail.

    On 4/1/2024, at approximately 1631 hours, AST received a report from Three Bears on Pittman stating Derek Henson, age 36 of Wasilla was trespassing. Derek left the property before AST arrived. AST is forwarding the charge of Criminal Trespass II to the Palmer DA’s office.

    Dispatch Text:

    UPDATE: Next of kin for both victims have been notified. The deceased are identified as Michael Reagan, age 52 of Big Lake, and Binta Tabane, age 30 of Fairbanks.

    ORIGINAL: On April 1, 2024 at 11:50 am, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that a vehicle had been discovered upside down in Meadow Creek near Beaver Lake Road in the Big Lake area. Troopers and local fire department responded to the scene and located both adult occupants deceased. A preliminary investigation determined that the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed when it lost control and crashed into the water. The crash is believed to have occurred sometime after 4pm on March 31. Both bodies have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Next of kin notifications are in progress, and once completed the identities of the deceased will be released.

    On 4/1/2024, at approximately 1004 hours, AST received a report of a disturbance in the area of Timberland Loop in Wasilla. AST responded to the scene. AST contacted Craig Tallman, 28 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Craig damaged property that belonged to another family member. Craig was arrested for the crime of Criminal Mischief V/DV. Craig was transported to Matsu Pretrial where he was remanded and held without bail.

    On Sunday March 31, 2024, at 9:45am, the Alaska State Troopers received a report from Northwest Arctic Borough Public Safety in Kotzebue of a Search and Rescue, out of the village of Buckland. An adult female had left her residence at approximately 6pm, on Saturday March 30, to go fishing on Kobuk Lake. Sunday, at 5:15am, two searchers on snowmachines left from Buckland to look for the woman, who was reported to be dressed for the weather and driving a newer snowmachine with a flat sled. The weather in Buckland was 8 degrees, with winds gusting to about 30 knots, causing ground storm conditions. Local air carriers were notified. On Sunday March 31, at approximately 3pm, the woman made it safely to Kotzebue and the searchers returned to Buckland.

    On 03/27/2024 at approximately 15:41 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a power line to an airport beacon being cut the week of January 9, 2024. A 30 ft. section had been removed from the line that runs to the beacon. The beacon is located at the approach end of runway 15. Investigation continues.

    Type: Search & Rescue

    Dispatch Text:

    On March 29, 2024, at 9:56pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a GPS device SOS activation and additional messages, stating there had been a serious snow machine accident approximately 60 miles east of Ruby. RCC launched from Fairbanks at 12:45am on March 30 to pick up the snowmachiners, but due to extreme weather conditions were unable to reach the crash site. A VPSO from Ruby was able to travel to the crash site via snowmachine and provide extra cold weather and survival gear until they were able to take shelter in a local cabin, about a mile from the crash site. RCC launched again at 9am on March 30 and were able to retrieve both snowmachiners, who were transported to Anchorage for medical treatment.

    On March 31, 2024, at 12:16am, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that an adult male had left Ruby via snowmachine the evening before, headed to Tanana, but had not yet arrived. The VPSO from Ruby and local searchers began searching from Ruby and another group of searchers began searching from Tanana. The Ruby search party located the man about 54 miles upstream from Ruby. His snowmachine had broken down, but he was uninjured.
