On April 19, 2025, at approximately 0059 hours, Troopers responded to a suspicious circumstances call at 4076 W ISLA Dr where Gary Clement reported unknown persons banging on his trailer. Upon arrival, Troopers observed Clement to be intoxicated by an unknown substance and discovered he had an active $250 warrant for Failure to Appear on a DUI charge. While on scene, Troopers noted Clement had created a fire hazard by burning a box inside his trailer. When Troopers attempted to arrest Clement on his warrant, he physically resisted, requiring Troopers to gain control and secure him in handcuffs. During a search incident to arrest, Troopers discovered a pill container in Clement's shoulder bag that field tested positive for methamphetamine, resulting in additional charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree. Clement was transported to Matsu Pretrial Facility and remanded on the warrant and new MICS charge.

On 04/18/2025 at approximately 1045, Alaska State Trooper received a report of a Snow machine crash in the area of Lake Louise. Troopers and VPSOs responded. Troopers ensured scene safety and conducted landing zone operations. The injured party was airlifted by LifeMed due to injuries.

On 04/19/2025 at approximately 0532 hours Alaska State Troopers responded to a possible shooting involving multiple people who had reportedly broken into a residence. While Troopers were responding the caller began giving MATCOM Dispatch conflicting information. Upon arrival Troopers learned that Geoffrey Flaherty, age 59 of Houston, had discharged a weapon inside the residence twice at what he believed were intruders before fleeing into the woods. A sawed-off shotgun was located and identified as the weapon fired by Flaherty. Following the investigation no evidence of other people being in the residence was found and the incident was believed to stem from a mental health issue. Flaherty was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial for False reporting, Misconduct involving a weapon in the third degree, and Misconduct involving a weapon in the fourth degree.

On April 19, 2025, at approximately 1046 hours, the Alaska State Troopers assisted the Pretrial Enforcement Division by returning 29-year-old Joseph Warren of Wasilla to the custody of the Department of Corrections. This action was taken after his third-party custodian reported that they no longer wanted to be responsible for him. Joseph was subsequently remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial without bail.

On 4/19/2025 at approximately 1033 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a call of a male who was threatening to set cars on fire and smash things with a wrench. Troopers arrived at the residence and found Tyler Hecks (27 YOA) of Palmer. He had not set anything on fire or damaged anything with a wrench, but had destroyed the ignition system to a pickup truck that he co-owned with a girlfriend. Tyler was arrested for criminal mischief in the 3rd degree and remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held per the bail schedule.

On 04/19/2025 at approximately 1145 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance near Matanuska Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that during an argument, Cheyenne Dixon, threw a hard object at a juvenile. Cheyenne was arrested for Assault in the 4th degree (DV) and remanded at Matsu-Pretrial without bail pending arraignment.

On 04/19/2025 at approximately 1000 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a woman in the roadway on Knik River Road. Investigation revealed that Desiree Naneng ran out onto the roadway and threw herself onto the Knik River Road in Palmer. Naneng was under the influence of alcohol when located by troopers. Naneng was arrested for violating her probation and was remanded at Matsu-Pretrial.

On 04/19/2025 at approximately 0549 hours AST received a report of a disturbance in Wasilla. AST responded, and through investigation, it was determined that Kerstin Schaeffer, age 30, of Wasilla, had damaged property. Schaeffer was arrested for Criminal Mischief 5 DV and transported to Mat-Su pretrial, where she was remanded and held without bail.

On 4/18/2025 at approximately 2230 hours, AST responded to a residence on Rainbow Park Circle in Wasilla for follow-up. At the residence, AST contacted David Loyd, 37, of Big Lake. A check in APSIN revealed that David had an outstanding $200 warrant for his arrest for originally failing to comply with conditions of release related to Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the fifth degree and VCOR. David was arrested, transported, and remanded at Matsu Pretrial, where he was held for his $200 bail.

A check in APSIN revealed Jamie had an outstanding $10,000 warrant for her arrest for the original charge of Theft 2 x2 and Theft of an Access device. Jamie was arrested, transported, and remanded at Matsu Pretrial, where she was held for her $10,000 bail.

The investigation revealed that Jamie Gerst, 51, of Wasilla, had concealed a controlled substance on her body while entering the facility. Jamie was charged with promoting contraband in the first degree and misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree. She was held with no bail.

Frank was driving under the influence of alcohol. Sloan Frank was arrested and remanded to FCC for Driving under the influence AS28.35.030 (a) (2).

On April 18, 2025, at approximately 2235 hours, Fairbanks AST conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 17th Avenue and Mary Ann Street. The driver, Dennis Volkheimer, was found in possession of a white crystalline substance, suspected to be methamphetamine. Charges for misconduct involving a controlled substance are pending lab results.

On April 19, 2025, at approximately 2:37 AM, an Alaska State Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a brown Ford pickup truck after locking its speed through calibrated radar at 71 MPH in a posted 40 MPH zone. The driver failed to stop as directed by the officer, the driver accelerated, reaching speeds of over 100 MPH. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Illinois Street near the GVEA Building. The driver, identified as Airon Baumgartner, was arrested and taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on charges of Failure to Stop in the Second Degree, Driving Under the Influence (DUI), and Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.

On April 18th, 2025, Troopers observed a UTV being driven on Van Horn Road without a license plate. The driver, Brady Sause, admitted to drinking one beer earlier in the evening. After showing signs of impairment during standardized field sobriety tests, he provided a breath sample of 0.103 BrAC on a PBT and later tested at 0.089 BrAC on the DataMaster. Sause was arrested for DUI and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Delta Junction AST has been receiving several reports of ATV's and dirt bikes driving on the roadway. Delta AST would like to remind the public ATV's are not allowed on the roadway without the proper equipment and registration. Delta AST wants you to be outside and enjoying the great state we call home, but please do not ride on the roadway, especially with traffic around. If your desire to make poor decisions cannot be stifled, at least make an effort to go way out of town, away from people, children, dogs, and cars. You still could be stopped and cited if you make that decision. If you choose to not stop and run, criminal charges will follow.

Investigation determined that the adult, on multiple occasions, provided alcohol to minors from the summer of 2024 to the spring of 2025. Charges were forwarded to the District Attorney's Office in Bethel.
