On 6/25/2024, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an assault that had occurred several hours earlier. Investigation determined Jacob Baker, age 37, had assaulted his wife. Jacob was arrested and remanded to Homer jail.

On June 19, 2024, at 7:00 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that 58-year-old Seward resident Paul Cottrell, a maintenance worker at Spring Creek Correction Center, was allegedly smuggling narcotics into the facility. Troopers based out of Seward investigated the allegations and determined that Cottrell was smuggling suboxone strips into the facility and handing them off to an inmate. Cottrell was arrested on charges of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances 4th Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence 1st Degree, and Promoting Contraband 1st Degree; he was remanded to Spring Creek Correctional Center without incident. The investigation continues.

On 6.25.24, at approximately 1230 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a suspicious male on Fetlock Drive in Wasilla. During the investigation, Troopers contacted Leonard Konig, age 57, of Wasilla. A records check revealed Konig had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on the original charge of False ID and remaining on bus property. Konig was arrested and transported to MSPT for remand. Bail was set at $50.00.

On 6/24/2024 at approximately 1735 hours, AST responded to a disturbance with parties separated of Wonderland Drive in Houston. Investigation revealed Michael Novak, age 24 of Houston placed another in fear of imminent injury with a weapon. Michael was placed under arrest for Assault in the 3rd Degree. He was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial, where he was remanded and held with no bail.

On 6/24/2024, at approximately 1828 hours, MATCOM dispatch received multiple 911 calls from the same phone at a residence off of KGB. Upon arrival at the residence, AST located a highly intoxicated male yelling at someone in the residence. Investigation revealed the male was yelling at Sarah Sutton, 40, of Wasilla. Sarah had two outstanding warrants for her arrest: the first for a failure to appear for court original charge of Theft II and the second for a failure to appear for court original charge of DWLR. AST, with the assistance of K-9 Lavi, located Sarah hiding in the residence under a suitcase. Sarah was arrested, transported, and remanded at Matsu Pretrial for her warrants, where she was held with no bail.

Investigation revealed an assault occurred between a landlord and a tenant. Charges for Assault IV are being forwarded to the Palmer District Attorney's Office.

On June 18, 2024 AST received a report from a 29 yoa woman reporting she was touched inappropriately by Gary S. Lybrand (71 yoa of Soldotna) while she was working at the fish processing plant yard in Unalakleet. Investigation revealed Lybrand put his hand down the woman's front pants pocket without consent and then grazed her chest over her clothes with the back of his hand, while commenting how much he liked her coveralls. AST filed charges of Harassment in the 1st Degree and Harassment in the 2nd Degree against Lybrand.

On June 22, 2024, at about 1700 hours, AST responded to a disturbance at a known party house in Stebbins. AST contacted parties at the residence and resolved the disturbance. AST initiated an investigation into manufacturing homebrew in a local option community, after evidence surfaced during the disturbance investigation. Suspects have been identified and AST is still investigating this case.

On June 25, 2024, at approximately 1625 hours Alaska State Troopers in Tok contacted Na’zray Black, age 19 of Eagle, and Ian Malcolm, age 20 of Eagle, in a parking lot in Tok. Investigation revealed Black was in violation of his conditions of release in 4TO-23-00083CR, and Malcolm in violation of his conditions of release in 4TO-23-00084CR. Both were placed under arrest for Violating Conditions of Release. Upon arrest Malcolm was found to be in possession of a concealed firearm and was additionally charged with Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the Fifth Degree. Both were remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center without incident.
