UPDATE 7/23: On July 19, 2024*, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that the operator of the ATV died at an Anchorage area hospital as a result of the injuries she sustained in the collision. The operator is identified as Erica Ball, age 49, of Anchor Point. Next of kin have been notified.
ORIGINAL: On July 16, 2024, at 8:50 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of an ATV rollover on Anchor River Road. Troopers and EMS responded to the scene and transported the adult female operator and sole occupant to an area hospital with serious injuries. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing.

On 07/22/2024 at 2111 hours Soldotna dispatch received a report that an individual was trespassing on his family's property. Troopers arrived on scene and contacted 64 year old Clam Gulch resident Kevin Dell. Upon further investigation, Dell was arrested for DUI, Criminal trespass in the 1st degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 5th degree. Dell was transported and remanded to Wildwood pretrial.

On 07/23/24 at 0744 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a vehicle being driven dangerously on Church Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed, Christopher Gately age 46 of Sutton, was driving his Tundra and crossing into the oncoming lane of travel forcing other vehicles off the roadway while under the influence of impairing substances. Further investigation revealed Gately’s Alaska drivers license is revoked. Gately was arrested and remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial for Driving Under the Influence, Assault 3 (for forcing other cars off the roadway with his vehicle) and Driving While License Suspended.

On 7/23/2024, at approximaltey 1636 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance in the area of Hassler Drive near Hay Street in Wasilla. AST responded to the scene and contacted Rachael Kennedy, age 51 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Rachael committed the crimes of Criminal Mischief III, MIW III, Assault IV, and Criminal Trespass I. Rachael was arrested and transported to Matsu Pretrial and held without bail.

On 07/22/2024 at approximately 2257 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the Green Store in Palmer for a report of a trespasser that kept returning to the store and trying to steal merchandise. Investigation led to the arrest of Susan Nick, age 42 of Bethel, for False Information, Theft IV x2, & Criminal Trespass II. Nick was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held until sober.

Investigation led to the arrest of Jaclyn Young, age 40 of Wasilla, for Assault IV DV. Young was remanded to the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.

On 7/22/24 2318 hours, a Nenana resident reported to AST his bike was stolen by ASHLEIGH MILLER and she fled on it. On 7/23/2024 at 0053 hours, the owner saw MILLER again riding his bike and he attempted to get his bike back but stated ASHLEIGH MILLER wouldn’t give it back and fled again. ASHLEIGH MILLER was also identified as the suspect in an attempted vehicle theft and a theft 3rd degree in which she needed to be arrested or served a summons for. MILLER was also on conditions of release for a pending unreleased Theft case.
On 7/23/24 at about 0952 hours, an Alaska State Trooper observed ASHLEIGH MILLER riding a bike in Nenana and attempted to stop her, she fled from Troopers while riding on the bike, and a short pursuit ensued with the Trooper chasing her in a patrol car with lights and sirens activated while she attempted to flee on the bike. The Trooper ultimately tackled her and arrested her for Failure to Stop at the direction of a Peace Officer, VCOR, and Theft 4th Degree.
MILLER was transported and remanded to FCC per the bail schedule.

On 6/23/24 Troopers made a traffic stop on Borda St and East Sitka Ct for a traffic violation. Subsequent investigation revealed Robert Parker Francis Jr's driver's license was revoked with a prior conviction of DWLR in 2019. A criminal citation was issued.

On July 17, 2024 at approximately 1751 hours, the Alaska State Troopers Criminal Suppression Unit was alerted that a generator had been stolen from a truck parked at 17th Ave./Stacia St. The suspects were identified as Isaiah Pitka and Howard Joseph. An investigation revealed the two, stole the generator, and then took it to Alaska Fast Cash were they sold it. Pitka and Joseph were contacted by AST after leaving the pawn shop and placed under arrest on charges of theft II and remanded to FCC.

Investigation resulted in the arrest of Sandy Hopson, age 36 of Fairbanks. Sandy was remanded at FCC for reckless driving and driving while revoked with prior convictions. No injuries were reported on scene.

The complainant informed Troopers that Arline Hanson, had been trespassed from this location. Troopers contacted Hanson and placed her under arrest for criminal trespass. On July 22, 2024, at 12:24 pm, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers were notified that an adult male had been spotted floating in the Kenai River near the Bings Landing area. Troopers, Alaska State Park Rangers, and EMS responded to the area. A preliminary investigation revealed that 18-year-old Anchorage resident Jacob Wasielewski was fishing on the opposite side of the river from Bings Landing with a group of friends. Jacob was spotted floating down the river by the group, and a boat operating in the river was able to pull him on board and begin CPR. Jacob was taken to awaiting first responders, who continued lifesaving efforts. He was medevaced to an Anchorage area medical center, where he died. Next of kin have been notified, and his body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

On 7/22/24, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, contacted a vessel with three men fishing from it in Eastern Channel. Investigation revealed, Robert Petrie, age 58 of Texas was sport fishing with more than one line. Robert Petrie Jr. age 35, of Texas and Michael Petrie age 60 of Texas were both fishing without 2024 Sport fishing licenses. A ll three men were cited with bail set at $120 for the use of more than one line, and $220 each for the sport fish license violations.
