On 9/4/2024, at approximaltey 1302 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to an address on Meadow Lakes Loop in Wasilla to contact Charles Cox, age 36 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Charles violated his Domestic Violence Protective Order, violated his Conditions of Release, and Unlawfully contacted the victim. Charles was arrested and transported to Matsu Pretrial where he was remanded and held without bail.

On September 4, 2024, at about 0650 hours, AST received a report of a residential burglary and subsequent assault in Stebbins. A 37-year-old man reportedly broke into a residence and started to assault residents inside. Residents reportedly defended themselves resulting in serious injuries to the 37-year-old man. The man was taken to clinic in Stebbins and later airlifted to NSRH for further treatment. AST is investigating this case.

On September 3, 2024, at 2:05pm, Alaska State Troopers received notification of human remains found downriver from the village of Napaskiak on the bank of the Kuskokwim River. AST responded and recovered the body. Positive identification was unable to be made. The body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification. Investigation is on-going.

On 09/03/2024 AST received a phone call regarding someone in a white GMC shooting out of their vehicle. AST located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and the vehicle did not stop the direction of AST, AST initiated a vehicle pursuit. AST was able to get the vehicle to stop by pursuit intervention technique near Gillam Street. AST arrested the driver who was identified as Donovan Kelley Joseph Mulcahy, he was remanded at FCC for MIW 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, two counts of Assault 3, DUI, Refusal to submit chemical test and MIW 4th, Degree.

On September 03, 2024, at approximately 1825 hours, AST responded to the area of Virginia St in North Pole to recover a stolen vehicle. AST located and attempted to contact the vehicle, which resulted in a vehicle pursuit. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Daniel Stelmacher, age 37. The pursuit ended when Daniel crashed the vehicle. Daniel was arrested for vehicle theft in the first degree, felony eluding, reckless driving, and driving while under the influence.

On 09/02/24 at approximately 1841 hours, the Delta Junction Alaska State Troopers received a report of a reckless driver discharging a firearm on Larry Spangler Road. Further investigation revealed Jonathan Carpenter, 34 years of age, of Delta Junction had assaulted his girlfriend, used a vehicle to attempt to run her over, and fired multiple rounds out the window. Carpenter fled the scene and was located at the Buffalo Gas station. Carpenter was arrested, transported to FCC, and charged with two counts of DV Assault in the 3rd degree, DV Assault 4th degree, DV Criminal Mischief 4th degree, two counts Misconduct Involving a Weapon 4th degree, Reckless Driving, and Fail to Stop at Direction of a Police Officer.

On Sept. 4th, 2024, the Alaska State Troopers Criminal Suppression Unit (CSU) in Fairbanks responded to a hotel near Airport Way and Old Airport Rd. to assist Kenai Police in recovering a stolen rental vehicle from Kenai that was reported to be in Fairbanks. The suspect was identified as Brandon Barron, 46, of Fairbanks, and it was determined he had failed to return the vehicle for almost two weeks and had not paid the associated fees of over $1500.
Law enforcement located the stolen vehicle at an apartment complex on Washington Dr. and observed Barron begin to drive away. CSU attempted to stop Barron, at which point he failed to yield. A PIT maneuver was attempted near Adams Dr. Barron regained control and accelerated to speeds in excess of appx. 50mph on 17th Ave. A second PIT maneuver was attempted near 17th Ave./Kiana St. at which point Barron lost control of the vehicle, and was blocked into a residential driveway by CSU. He was then taken into custody without further incident.
Barron was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on charges of Fail to Stop at Direction of Peace Officer 1st Degree, Vehicle Theft 1st Degree, and Theft 2nd Degree (of services).

On 9/1/24, Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Vincent Peters, age 38, of Sitka transporting processed sablefish fillets up the public dock. Investigation revealed the fillets came from a nearby commercial sablefish vessel. The fish had been harvested under personal use regulations in Chatham Strait on 8/31. As a result of the investigation, vessel owner/operator Patrick Crenna, age 44 of Sitka, was cited for failing to have a personal use/subsistence sablefish permit, reporting inaccurate information on a permit once obtained, and using an overlimit of pot gear to harvest sablefish. Total bail set at $440 with an arraignment set in Sitka District Court for the overlimit gear charge. Peters was cited for no personal use/subsistence sablefish permit, and overlimit pot gear. Bail set at $220 with an arraignment for the overlimit pot gear charge.
