On 3/2/25 at 1907 hours, Troopers stopped an ATV on Anchor Point Road for multiple traffic violations. An investigation showed the driver, Christopher Hanson, 33 of Anchor Point, was driving the ATV under the influence of alcohol. Hanson was given a summons to appear in court and released to a sober adult.

On 03/03/2025 at approximately 2155 hours, AST received a report of a disturbance at a residence off N Eska Creek in Sutton. The investigation revealed that Raven Cloninger, age 37 or Sutton, by words or other conduct recklessly placed a family member in fear of imminent physical injury. Cloninger was arrested without incident for DV Assault 4, AS11.41.230(a)(3) and two counts of Assault in the presence of a child, AS11.41.240(a), transported and remanded with no bail to Mat-Su Pretrial.

On 03/03/2025 at approximately 2155 hours, AST Dispatch received a report of a single-vehicle collision at the intersection of the Parks HWY and Marigold Dr. The driver was provided life-saving measures by EMTs on the scene and transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital before being airlifted to Providence Hospital in Anchorage. The cause of the collision is under investigation at this time.

On 3/4/2025 approximately 0412 hours Alaska State Troopers received a report of a carjacking in Hatcher Pass. Officers with the Wasilla Police Department located the vehicle approximately 10 minutes later on Wasilla Fishhook. They conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Branden Heller, 38 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Branden used a firearm in the commission of a vehicle theft while being a convicted felon. Additionally, he caused physical injury to a domestic partner in a separate incident shortly after. Branden was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial and held without bail.

Gladys Anderson age 53 of Wasilla was placed under arrest for a failure to appear warrant with her original charge being misconduct involving a controlled substance in the 4th degree. She was remanded to Matsu Pretrial with a bail of $250.

Location: WasillaType: Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second DegreeDispatch Text:
On 9/14/23, the Alaska State Troopers Child Abuse Investigation Unit in Wasilla received a reported sexual abuse of a minor. Aaron Turner, 41, Wasilla, was reported to have sexually abused a juvenile female for approximately three years. During the ensuing investigation, evidence that corroborated the sexual abuse was found. Turner was indicted by a Palmer Grand Jury on five counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree and an arrest warrant was issued. On 10/13/23, Aaron Turner was arrested and remanded to the Anchorage Jail.
On 2/27/2025, Turner pled guilty to two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree as part of a plea agreement at the Palmer court.

On 8/12/2021, the Palmer Child Abuse Investigation Unit received a report that Reececharles Freeman, 55, had reported to his probation officer that he had fallen asleep at a woman’s residence in Big Lake on the couch and when he woke up, her 4-year-old daughter was on the couch beside him. At the time, Freeman was on probation for Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree for a prior offense. During a forensic interview, the four-year-old disclosed that Freeman had caused her to engage in sexual contact with him. The four-year-old disclosed the abuse with the help of anatomical diagrams and anatomical dolls, demonstrating the acts. Further investigation provided corroborating details for the child’s disclosure. On 8/24/21, Freeman was arrested at his meeting with his probation officer and charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor 2, Violation by Sex Offender of a Condition of Probation, as well as probation violations.
On 2/25/2025, Freeman was found guilty of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree following a jury trial in Palmer. Freeman is scheduled to be sentenced in July, 2025.

On March 3, 2025, at 8:09 am an inmate at the Anchorage Correctional Complex was found unresponsive in a cell. Correctional Officers and medical staff at the facility provided lifesaving efforts as EMS responded. 42-year-old Kodiak resident Reginald Childers was later declared deceased at an Anchorage area hospital. Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation responded to the facility to investigate the death. A preliminary investigation has determined that no foul play is suspected in Childers’ death and that his death was self-inflicted. Childers’ body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and his next of kin have been notified.
