Harlow had appeared in Plamer court and was ordered to be remanded to Mat Su Pretrial on the charge of Sexual Assault of a Minor in the Second Degree.

On 08/02/2024 at approximately 11:53 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a boater in distress near Turner Bay. The caller had received messages on an emergency beacon that said "Please help, battery low." On the same day, an LCA float plane was diverted over the area. The pilots in the aircraft spotted the missing boat being towed by another back to Port Alsworth. A local SAR volunteer confirmed this information, saying that no further assistance was needed. No injuries have been reported at this time.

On 08/07/2024 at approximately 1152 hours, AST received a report of a harassment at the Tetlin Gate. Dispatch advised the gate guard reported being yelled at by a male individual. Investigation revealed subsequent crimes have occurred with the driver of a black 1991 Chevy S10 pickup. The driver was identified as Jason A. Corgill, who is currently in suspended status on his AK Operators License with an open case (4TO-23-00003 CR). Further investigation revealed mismatching plates on the vehicle. Three charges were submitted to the District Attorney’s Office on Corgill, Violation of Conditions of Release, Driving While License is Suspended and Misuse of Plates.

On 08/07/2024 at approximately 0939 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a fire in the Annamarie Ave. and Laura Ann Lp. area of Tok. The area is heavily wooded and undeveloped. Thanks to the local community member in the area the fire was reported quickly and with the swift action of Tok Forestry in conjunction with Tok Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) members the fire was contained and controlled.
The following resources were used: 5 Forestry Engines, 3 VFD Engines, as well as the Bell 212 Helo (4 Sorties) dumping water.
The origin of the fire was located, and the property owner was identified and contacted by AST. At this time the investigation will be handled by Forestry with numerous violations observed.
AST would like to thank our Forestry and VFD members for their swift action in containing the fire. AST would also like to stress the importance of community restrain and policing in regard to fires in the area as well as heeding to the burn restrictions.

On August 6, 2024, at 12:05 am, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an overdue boater that was scheduled to arrive in Fort Yukon on Sunday after traveling from Venetie. At approximately 3 pm on August 6, a BLM aircraft that was assisting with the search spotted the missing boater and AST Helo-7 was then able to land and provide transport to Fort Yukon and was reported to be in good health.

UPDATE 8/9/24: The Alaska State Trooper who discharged their firearm during this incident is identified as:
- Trooper Luke Kumfer, a 14-year veteran of the Alaska State Troopers currently assigned to Bethel post
The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is continuing to investigate the incident.
ORIGINAL: On August 6, 2024, at 2:19 pm, Troopers in Bethel received a report of a DV in progress at a residence in the village of Eek. A Village Public Safety Officer attempted to make contact with the suspect, 41-year-old Eek resident Nick Beebe; however, Beebe threatened the VPSO with a shotgun. Troopers from Bethel responded, and Beebe barricaded himself in his girlfriend’s residence with a firearm. Interviews with witnesses revealed that Beebe had made statements that he had seriously assaulted his girlfriend and that she was still inside the residence. The Alaska State Trooper’s Southcentral SWAT Team was activated and responded directly to Eek via a chartered aircraft. Troopers continued to attempt to negotiate with Beebe and learn the status of his girlfriend; however, Beebe refused to converse with negotiators. Prior to SWAT arriving, one of the Troopers shot at Beebe from outside of the residence; however, Beebe was not struck. After SC SWAT arrived in Eek, they entered the residence and arrested Beebe. SWAT discovered 38-year-old Lorna White deceased in the residence from suspected blunt-force trauma. Beebe was remanded to YKCC on charges of Murder, Assault, and Misconduct Involving a Weapon. No law enforcement officers or other individuals reported injuries to Troopers.
White’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Her next of kin have been notified.
The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed case responsibility for the homicide and officer-involved shooting investigation. Once their investigation is complete, it will be independently reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions. The Trooper who discharged their firearm has been placed on 72 hours of administrative leave in accordance with DPS policy and will be identified in 72 hours.
