On 7/8/24 at 1551 hrs AST responded to a report of a vehicle vs four wheeler collision at Robinson Loop RD and Valley View RD. Investigation revealed a Yamaha four wheeler occupied by two teenagers was driving on Valley View RD and failed to stop at the stop sign before crossing Robinson Loop RD. The four wheeler crashed into the side of a black Toyota FJ that was driving on Robinson Loop RD. The juveniles on the four wheeler were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Toyota had minor injuries. AST investigation continues.

On 7-9-24 at approximately 0705 hours AST received a report of a possibly intoxicated driver in Nikiski. AST responded to the scene an investigation revealed Samuel Bogard, 25 of Nikiski, was intoxicated while driving. He was also found to have weapons in his possession while intoxicated. Bogard was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pre-Trial on charges of DUI and MIW4 x2.

On 7/9/2024, at approximately 0930 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a property on Starlight Lane for a welfare check. AST contacted April Murray, age 40 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that April had an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of DWLR. April was arrested and transported to Matsu Pretrial where she was remanded and held on a $100 bail.

On July 8, 2024, at 4:23 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a motorcycle versus pedestrian collision in the Big Lake area. Troopers and EMS responded to the scene and transported the female pedestrian, 79-year-old Big Lake resident Nadara Williams, to an area hospital for treatment. On July 9, 2024, Troopers were notified that Williams had died as a result of the injuries she sustained. A preliminary investigation revealed that a Yamaha dirt bike was being operated on a paved walking path at a high rate of speed when the operator collided with Williams. The driver of the dirt bike, 19-year-old Anchorage resident Brendan Clark, was cited for operating an off-highway vehicle in an area intended for pedestrians (13 AAC 02.455(g)). The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
The Alaska State Troopers would like to highlight the dangers of operating motor vehicles on pedestrian pathways. Not only is this a violation of Alaska law, it is incredibly dangerous and puts the lives of pedestrians and the operator at risk of serious injury. On 7/9/24 at approximately 1311 hours Palmer AST responded to Meadow Lakes Mall for report of trespassing. AST contacted Charlie Mason, age 35 of Wasilla. APSIN/NCIC revealed Mason had previously trespassed from the building. Mason was issued a misdemeanor citation for Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree and released from the scene.

On June 5, 2024, at 10:22 pm, Alaska State Troopers received a report of sexual assault of a minor in Old Harbor. AST chartered a flight and responded to the village. Troopers located and detained the suspect, 32-year-old Shiloh Torres-Umi of Hawaii. Torres-Umi was arrested on the charges of Sexual Assault I and Sexual Abuse of a Minor II. His bail was set at $50,000 plus a third-party custodian. The investigation is ongoing.

On July 9th 2024, at about 0000 hours, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for poor manner of driving on Farmers Loops and College Rd in Fairbanks. After further investigation, the driver, Ackeme Nelson, was arrested for DUI drugs and 4 vials of blood were obtained from Ackeme person for analysis. Ackeme was remanded to FCC without incident.

On July 9, 2024 at approximately 11:43 AM, Alaska State Troopers in Tok received a report of an aircraft collision at the Tok Airport with injuries. Troopers and Tok Area EMS responded. Investigation showed that a 75 year old private pilot had been taking off in a cross wind and lost control shortly after leaving the ground. Her Kitfox S7 Supersport aircraft crashed downwind to the side of the runway sustaining disabling damage. Both occupants of the aircraft walked out of the collision and neither were transported by EMS. NTSB has been notified.

Investigation showed Ashleigh Miller, age 31 of Nenana, took glass beads and left without paying. She also had an outstanding warrant. When Troopers located Ashleigh she resisted arrest and attempted to flee. Ashleigh was arrested and transported of FCC for Theft 4th, Resisting Arrest, and MICS 5th. Ashleigh was held on $1,000 pending conditions of release.

On 6/24/24 at 1221 hours, AST and Tri-Valley EMS responded to a 911 call reporting CPR in progress on PAMELA WAASER (age 67 of North Carolina) who was participating on a commercial rafting trip on the Nenana River near Denali National Park. WAASER had fallen out of the raft into the water while traversing rapids on the river and while trying to get back into the raft she stopped moving. Following significant efforts by rafting guides, next of kin, guests (including an EMT and a retired Doctor), and local EMS, she was pronounced deceased. Following an investigation by Alaska State Troopers and the Medical Examiner’s Office, the death is believed to be accidental/drowning.
